Please make some recomendations to some non commercial night clubs in Dublin. Redbox used to be cool, went Sat night and it was commercial crapology with students hopping around chanting white stripes seven nation army. Sick of it!!!! Sick of it all. Redbox used to have much better music and a much better clientell, ethnic and interesting looking people. So I'm looking for a kind of underground place. Nothing too dodgy/drug filled. thanks

You should give Pravda a shot, its a good spot, no drugs, and cool music.

Yeah, D2 is real commercial alright.

Also you could try Eammon Dorans...might be a bit of the oul Wacky Baccy in there, but no E or Coke, and the music is ok too.

But watch out for the sticky floor.

The Mezzanine have a few good nights midweek, I've seen a couple of good bands in there from time to time.

Check out the Metal Nights in Voodoo, no commerciality in there either.

There's alot of stuff going on low-key in upstairs of pubs just sligthly outside the city centre. I was at a once a month night in Handels (thomas st.) sounds dodgy but it was really cool. There's another once a-month thing in The soul trader & the Dockers. Basically there in places where you wouldn't expect it (rough enough areas but the crowd isn't). Good crowd & good music

Thanks for the feedback. I know of ED's and stuff, but is there an actual club there? You see, personally, I would be into a nice laid back place with a bit of Leonard Cohen or something, but I'd also like a nice club with nice ladies with good taste in music. Yep, please, non commercial. That is:
    Sean Paul
    Beyonce,
Guns N Roses (sweet child o mine, always played, even though they are a good band)
    Eminem,
    Nerd,
    Dre,
    White Stripes,
    Mistique

This is the usual playlist of most clubs. Some of the above are tolerable, however, DJs seem to have a nack of overplaying the good songs.
Keep the recomendations comming, gonna try a few of them:) thanks

Isaac Butts is good too, and any Dublin Northsiders of a certain age will remember "The Grove" nights in St. Pauls School in Raheny, well Isaac Butts recently ran a once monthly "Grove Night", I think its still on? ( any one confirm or deny).
