A freak sand storm during the second half of second qualifying means Da Matta starts from pole and then the race is abandoned 5 laps in cos of too much sand. an unlikely first win for Toyota. Bruni gets his first podium. Despite not finishing, the sun still shines out of Button's ring piece. Put the house on it.

:p Unlikely, but it'd make for a great race!!

All going well, Montoya will win, Kimi 2nd and then a strong show from the Renaults. I'd like to see Webber do well also, expecially after the disasterous race he had in Malaysia.

Can see it being a good track for the Bridgestone teams, but will brobably be more of the same:

    Ferrari 1,2
    Montoya 3
    Raikkonen Blown Up

Hope Fissi starts showing how he can really drive and expect Button to be on a high after his first podium.

Irishman, I hope you're wrong. If Schuey wins this one aswell people will start to get ticked off with the Ferrari dominence so early in the season. We need Kimi to win this race, or JPM, to even out the scoreboard a bit.

Im just being realistic. The Ferraris are going to be strong and you havent even given them a mention in your previous prediction. I actually hope it does get interesting and the others start getting closer, but I cant see it happening at the next race, everyones too far behind the Ferrari.

:p True, I was hoping to send some bad karma their way and make Schuey get a flat tyre or something. Not that I don't like him but I love watching him race when he's down the grid, that's when you see his real talent!

it makes me laugh when people start moaning about ferraris dominance , if the other teams put in as much effort with their car and less effort with P.R. than maybe they would be up there with ferrari , and as Eddie Jordan said last week " when Tiger Woods wins nine golf championships , everyone sings his prasies, but if ferrari start winning everything there is uproar" . poeple should just enjoy the moment , after all we are seeing history being made

All very good points BANZAI, you're right of course. I'm just itching to see Williams win a drivers championship again, and then Ferrari fight like crazy the following year to win it back. That'd be some great racing!! :)

And the sun shining out of Buttons arse? 10 points to Doctor J!

That's why the rear jack got stuck on his first pit stop, BTW, it expanded with the immense heat radiating from his rectum ;)

Yeah, it was a great race, the new track is superb. A quick roundup of how I felt about different drivers
M.schumacher - he shone, lets face it after qualifying in which he locked up his front wheels on two occasions and still managed poll by 3tenths over rubens the race was a done deal.
Ruben - did was he had to for the team, but pretty unspectacular.
Montoya -very unlucky, but I'm glad I don't particularly like him.
Button - showed that his previous third place wasn't just a fluke, fair play to him.
Sato - Wow this fellow has come on in leaps and bounds, looking forward to seeing more from him.
Klein - a surprise for me, he drove well and had some great fighting with coultard for position, and pulled a couple of nice move on coultard.

I'm certainly looking forward to this track in future years.

I'd love to be looking forward to monza but I'll be working that whole weekend from the thurdays for 16 hour long days. Goddam!

It's beginning to look a lot like 2002.
I must say I'm very surprised at how strong the BARs look, both in qualifying and race trim. I wouldn't be surprised if they become the team to challenge Ferrari for a period this year. They have lots of interesting solutions planned for their car and could overtake Williams who seem to be stuck in a development rut at the moment.

It's amazing how BAR have improved in leaps and bounds since they got rid of Jacques Villeneuve. I still think he's a loss from the sport but it's better for BAR that he's gone. Button is really showing his potential this year, we might even see him win a race!

Kalina's right, BAR have really come on since J.V. left. I think a lot of that might be down to the fact that the money they saved since he left (remember, he was the second highest paid driver in F1 after Michael Schumacher) has been ploughed back into the development of the car for this year and it's really shown. I always thought J.V. was the one thing holding back BAR, the millstone round their neck if you like. Since late 2001 I felt he was just plodding around in order to make a few more bob before he retired, or was kicked out. When Craig Pollock was dumped by BAR I think that was the icing on the cake for Villeneuve and his motivation went right down the jacks. And David Richards coming on board was the end, really. Richards always claimed right from the start that J.V. was not indispensible, that the team was bigger than just one driver alone and, as a result, they never saw eye-to-eye. In actual fact, I think Richards had J.V.'s number right from the start and wasn't going to waste his time with a driver who was obviously lacking motivation and was just looking to secure his pension. I think Richards, BAR and Honda were right to get rid of J.V. and that's definitely now showing this year.

Yep, Richards is a team principal who concentrates on BOTH his drivers. Whereas Pollock's reason for existence seemed to be Villeneuve which was obviously bad for te team. That works for a team like Ferrari where the idolised driver can motivate the team and produce results. Villeneuve never appeared to get on well with the team or motivate his mechanics, and the results definitely didn't merit the wage packet he was on.
