Topping Up Too Much From Atm!!

ok folks,im a customer of both bank of ireland(arse jockeys) and vodafone(similar trade).
does anyone use their ATM card to top up their phone?
anyways i have put in 50euros for the second time this year by accident!and there is no way of reversing such an action as the B.O.I couldnt care less and its against vodafones rules to "remove credit or transfer credit between accounts".

what happens is when you enter your phone number it is saved to the account so the next time you go to top up your number appears on screen so you just press the button beside it to select it,unfortunately the button sticks (approx twice a year by looks of things!) and you end up also selecting 50euro on the next screen and BOOM! its on d way to your fone!
unlike the AIB atm it has a confirmation screen saying pay Xamount to 087XXXXXXX yes or no.

im gonna be living on beans for the rest of the week!!

Tell whichever bank that whichever ATM you've used has keys that get stuck and therefore cause problems with transactions. They mightn't refund anything, but at least it won't happen you - or anyone else - again.

    It is what it's.

also on AIB you have to enter your number. it doesnt save it automatically.

    Much preferable, privacy wise.

    It is what it's.

yes one would think so,but the people in sligo BOI(mainly one ignorant old biddy) claimed that there was nothing wrong with the machine, that she had used it an hour before hand, before going to contradict herself by not knowing how the topping up process on the machines even worked and also refusing to accompany me out to the machine so i could show her tha machine was fooked.
this happened roughly 12months ago and i dint even bother annoying myself by going near her this time-im away now to close my account

If you receive treatment like that over ANY issue in the bank, ask to see someone higher up, preferably a Manager/Assistant Manager. If you don't get satisfaction there, look up the Area Office in the Phone Book. You'd be surprised by how well the senior levels in the Bank will treat you. Most of them have worked their way up through the ranks and got where they are by being decent to customers. More importantly, most of them are paid properly so they give a **** about their jobs.

It's not that BOI couldn't care less. They are merely providing a route through to Vodafone/ O2 or whatever. Once you complete your Top Up transaction a file is sent from the BOI system to the appropriate partner. The transactions are batched and transmitted to the phone company's sysytems at regular intervals. Branch staff have no control over these transactions whatsoever. Any 'problems' with the facility are resolved by the phone provider initially - with them then having to get in touch with the bank.
