DVD playback woes

I stuck in a DVD in my new machine last night after installing WinDVD 5 platinum which shipped with my motherboard....it plays fine but if you try to advance it to the next chapter bye bye....WinDVD quits and gives a message about sending an error report to Microsoft....lo and behold but using the player that comes on the DVD seems to also cause problems but not as much....media player also has problems....

Now this from a machine that shouldn't have to worry about playing several DVD's simultaneously....AMD Athlon 64, 512MB Mushkin, MSI GeForce FX5700, NEC ND-2500A....WTF....

    Any ideas???

Have you tried using a different software?

I used whatever player was on the DVD itself and also media player....I'm gonna try PowerDVD this evening as I've gotten hold of it today....

Ok PowerDVD worked perfectly....only problem is it's only a trial version....

So back to WinDVD platinum....on further investigation the problem only occurs when I switch on the spdif output.....

    Any ideas on a fix???
