A friend has recentl started training at the gym with a personal trainer. She has been given a mixture of cardio and weights three times a week (90 mins per session) She has some weakness (neck injury) and has been advised that the focus for the first month of so will be strengthening the weak areas and general strength training rather than weight loss. However she was assured that toning and weight loss will follow in due course.

    Is this a good approach?
