"I'll ring her mobile"

I share a house with two girls who, to be polite about it, wouldn't exactly be the brightest around. This is simply an observation, not a criticism. However, in an illustration that people socialise with like-people, the phone rang late last night.

    I answered it.

    Me: Hello
Voice: Can I speak to Mary please
Me: Mary is in bed asleep
Voice: OK, I'll ring her mobile

(She hangs up before I can explain. Then I am grateful, because then I try to figure out how I would have explained something so simple to a grown adult).

I think their thinking is it is cheaper to ring the homephone. Of course, interrupting your does not come into the equation.

    Some people...

Maybe when she said " I'll ring her mobile", What she really meant was " I dont care if shes asleep, I am going to hang up on you and ring her mobile so she has to wake up. Cos I'm a be-atch."

Well she probably assumed that Mary would have her mobile beside her bed, so that when it rang it would wake her up and she wouldn't have to get out of bed to answer it
Nothing wrong with waking someone up with a phonecall - unless it's before 10 in the morning, now thats just eeevil!(although my friends do it to me just to annoy me:( )

Don't let your mobile phone wake you up...ever !!!

Picture this. My phone, Nokia 3310, set on discreet overnight about 2 weeks ago. Placed on bedside cabinet. The vibration woke me up at about 6 or 7am. Phone was ringing, I didn't answer it. Thought it was a dream. Then a beep a few seconds later indicating a voice message. Curious and píssed off that I was woken from my phone ringing dream by some toerag, i rang 171. You have 1 new voice message...to delete this blah blah...then the message was not a human voice but the sound of a bloke, walking around loudly, possibly in a bathroom and making the usual early-in-the-morning caveman noises. I ended the call before I scarred my hearing for life.

Checked the number from the missed call, it turned out to be a hackney I had used the previous day !
