Wasn't to sure where to post this one but thought here would do.

Wat are some of the funniest theme tunes of all time. Will all get a great laugh out of hearing Baywatch and Mr. Ed etc. Just wondering wat other classics there are :)

For sheer beauty the winner will always be: Twin Peaks. Lovely stuff. Badalamenti is king.

For the cheese value: Thundercats ("Thundercats are on the move, thundercats are loose! Feel the magic in the air..."), Captain Planet (especially the full end song - "We're the planeteers! You can be one too! Because saving the planet is the thing to do!"), Defenders of the Earth ("Mandrake! Master of magic, spells and illusion..."), the A-Team (everyone knows this!), and Dallas.

Immensely hummable also: The Mysterious Cities of Gold ("Children of the sun! See your time has just begun!"), Dogtanian and the Three Muskahounds ("One for one and all for one, muskahouds..."), the Famous Five ("we are the famous five! and we're coming back to you time after time...").

And I have every single one of these on my PC, and some with the opening credits too :D

Dallas and Murder she Wrote are two classics, A-Team is pretty good too, and who could ever forget the planateer song! (much as we try:o )

The Rockford Files- for sheer cheesy-assed synthisiser sadness.

Also, if anyone remembers the old music RTE had for Wimbledon, with those rickedy 70's guitar and those Boo-BOO! noises- they just don't get any better (better meaning terrible) than that.

Also, not really a theme tune but have you ever woke up in the morning with a song stuck in your head and it stays there all day?
Yeah- ever woke up in the morning with the music from Bubble Bobble in your head all day- ARRRRGGHH!

Or how's about that old Sesame Street number song, with the pinball-machine cartoon- oh what I wouldn't do to have a copy of that in some video format.

    1-2-3-four-five!
    6-7-8-nine-ten-eleven-twelve!

    phunkaaay!

    punky bruster (anyone remember this)
    ulyseeys (spelling !?)

all classics in their own time!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,924 ✭✭✭✭BuffyBot

Animaniacs had a great theme tune!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 69 ✭✭Iron Petes

I have to agree the theme tune to Ullesys (forgive the spelling, I know there's a Y in there somewhere) is absolutely brilliant. Ullesys, Ullesys, Flying through the galaxy ....unadultarated genius. I don't know if you remember Pob on BBC, also classic theme music . All the characters had different tunes (Auntie flow and Farmer Barlie moe .....I think) and the milkshake-obsessed frog conductor Fantastic!

Actually I think it was Bod & not Pob

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 437 ✭✭daveJAM

Yeah it was Bod. I heard it a while ago as a ringtone at Darkside. Think it was Bio's phone.

How could ye forget Hawaii 5 0.

    Call 11 8 50, 1, 1, 8, 5, 0!
