NTL Advice

Basically the deal is; I currently have NTL analog with the sports package. This is being turned off next week so i've been offered free installation and free premiership plus if i upgrade to digital. i was going to get rid of the sports but had a last minute change of mind and decided to go for the digital. So they came out to the house today, i wasn't in but someone else stayed home for them, but apparently there is a weak signal so a new box has to be installed. Ok, i thought, until i was told it would be 1 - 6!! weeks before this could be done. So i took it upon myself to get in touch and clear things up and rang them. Of course their notoriosly bad customer service told me there was nothing they could do and when i theatened to go to sky she politely told me she "couldn't give a toss".

So anyway, if anyone has any advice on how to speed things up or even just get some clear info, tbh i wouldn't be surprised if they still bill me for the sports in the meantime.

    Advice appreciated,
    Hydro

Don't bother going digital with ntl - it's just not worth it. Get sky. I've fought tooth and nail with ntl to try and get service improvements, I've threatened legal action, to report them to ComReg etc. etc. They sent out an engineer a few days ago and he ACTUALLY ADVISED ME to get sky!!! It's a bad state of affairs if the ntl installers and engineers are ACTUALLY TELLING people to go sky!!! Anyway, with sky you'll also get sky sports xtra, plus interactive red button - something ntl neither has presently, nor will have in the future.

Btw. I wonder, since they are switching off sky sports on analogue, will this mean that they will add more channels to the digital lineup?

    (I Hope so :D )

Typical, They say they'll give you free Premiership Plus but probably by the time you get it installed the season will be just about over.

I wouldn't be surprised if they added a few more then, after all when they removed the movie chans they added a big batch of channels.

    Hopefully anyway. :)

I would go for sky but i have 3 tvs on the regular cable which all get a lot of use from everyone in the house so cutting down to 1 could cause huge arguments. If it was just me i'd get sky in a second but i cant afford to be getting set up for even two of the tvs, i think, and thats about the minimum i could realistically live with

The definition why anyone would choose NTL over SKY.
