How much weight can be lost before weigh-in?

    Hi,

How much weight can be lost before a weigh-in by dehydration, assuming the contest is the next day? I just read about some fighters loosing about 10% of their body for weigh in, which seems alot. Is this possible?

I'm normally around 85/86 kgs. Do you think it would be possible to go down to 81kg just by not drinking too much water?
Also, what methods are used to dehydrate yourself to temporarly lose weight?

Someone posted this link on sfuk a while ago iirc, its chris brennan (westsidestrangler) explaining how to cut weight.

It seems a bit extreme for a judo compeptition, which usually aren't 24hr after weight-in ?

I have lost 8kgs the day of the weigh in, mostly not eating no drinking, sauna and sauna suit and skipping in it like a demon... weighed in bang on the button :) it only water so replace sensibley with isotonic drink and salt and you be fine,

boxers do it all the time. corales looses something like 13kgs before a weigh in and look at him.

Thats what I would have thought Kev, but it seems perhaps not! If people are loosing 13kg, maybe loosing just 4kg would be a walk in the park(...wearing lots of cloths...)

Yeah, I've never been at a weigh in 24 hrs before, but some are the night before, so you'd have 12 hrs to replenish.

ps. Do you know me, or did I mention I did judo here before?

Yeah you mentioned it in the judo intervarsities thread and i recognised the 81kg figure.

I wonder how much is safe to cut for a weigh in 12hr before.
