For your average joe, BMI is a fairly decent estimate. BMI really falls down on people who are athletic and carry significantly more muscle than average.

Body builders, weight-lifters, rugby players would all be considered 'overweight' or even obese when their BMI is taken. This is because the extra muscle makes them a lot heavier than the average person of the same height.

Do you know where you can see what your BMI value means? I got a fitness test done a while ago - was just wondering if there was anywhere I can check what the value I got for my BMI means.

I also had one done down in the UL Arena in Limerick - work out there during the week and Arklow at weekends.
