i went wit sky and have never had any problems, plus i didnt see a point in introducing a middle man for no reason. MAy as well get sky from sky

Roll on rumours about ITN going free to air...

If you get a second hand sky system you can get many of the news stations, four dodgy music stations and BBC 1,2,3,4 free to air.

NTL also offer internet in some areas

Strongly agree that NTL reselling sky is a marketing disaster...

the ntl internet packages r completely independant of the tv stuff.

Sky is much better...I used to work for them putting it in and I must have taken out 100s of NTL setups, aslo not everthing is on the NTL setup.

Though it must be pointed out that Sky does not carry UTV or Channel Four at present to ROI subscribers. This bugs quite a few people.

If your still not fully sure gavnolan you should take a look in the ICDG section of boards here . The cable section contains info about ntl & the Satellite section contains plenty of info about sky.

Im not sure i fthis is just a local thing (galway) but everyone of my mates who have got NTL says the quality of signal is very poor compared to SKY, Ive noticed it and even the picture went blank 3 times during friends the last day. Never had that problem with sky.

NTL suck! Sky Rock! Especially Sky + and if you only want it for the sports than you also have the interactive stuff on Sky that NTL don't have. In a year and a half of having Sky Digital the picture has gone once. which lasted all of 5 minutes and that was because there was a torrential downpour. In the 3 months I had NTL digital originally, the service went down 12 times and each time I has to spend an average of 30 minutes on the phone to NTL and ended up talking to some rude, uninterested gob****e. Ring Sky and you're usually talking to someone within 2 minutes and they are friendly and actually sounds like they give a ****.

Sky is better but more expensive.

NTL isn't as good but is cheaper.

    The choice is yours....;)

Thanks for the advice lads/lassies, i reckon i will go with the Sky Package, gone are the days of just getting in a dcoder and watching sky sports!

Ps- Do the even sell decoders anymore to pick up sky sports or must you get the digital in?

    cheers

I'm talking about the cable broadband only with it's 1GB per day and option of static IP address - forget the dial up options - (if only they would put telephony down that cable as well a lot of will say goodbye to eircom. )
