Related to a recent topic about your mates on boards.ie, how seriously do you take anything said here?
Personally, i might get into slagging matches with people, or heated debates/disagreements, but i do my best to remember its only the internet, and generally forget all about it shortly afterwards. Saying that, its not always the case.

so if you got into a slagging match with a user on boards, and then met him/her in real life, would you hold a grudge or let it go?

that the thread i was 'inspired' by, but that only refers to friends... Im talking about generally, I mean if your first impression of someone was a boards user who is insutling you, would you hold it against them in real life?

I would smack the floppy tits off Angelwhore, but that's about it.

He banned me from the rock/metal board cuz I said Nu-metal was gay. I guess he must be homophobic, or else he would have taken that as a compliment! What's wrong with being gay, Angelwhore? You racist too?

It's interesting - I think I've certainly formed opinions of people from this. I guess it's not helped by posting in the Humanities and Politics board, where threads get a lot more heated. So judging by some, I'd probably want to smack them if I saw them in public whereas others I think I'd like to engage in the art of conversation.

aside from us all being a bunch of self centred opinionated bolloxes, i reckon we'd all pretty much get along if we all met. would be nice to put faces to nicks anyway.

isnt that the point of the beers?

id agree with ixoy, politics tends to get more heated, and id have less of a chance getting on with somone who was on the opposite to my political views than someone who called me a spa, or whatever

and there are certain users who i have had afew ruckuses with, which is bound to warp my personal view of them, rather than them just being annoying in one instance, they seem to be constantly so.... most, though are passing disagreements, and chances are i forgotten who they are a week later

i just hate people that immediatly say offensive or disrespectful things. 99.99999 per cent of people that are cheeky on the internet would not have the balls to say things like that in person. i hate people like that cos theyre complete hypocrits, feeling safe on the internet, but in real lifewould not even raise theyre voices.

spooiiiirrt (or whatever), can i remind
u of ur charming thread in the LGB forum, and ur even more charming reply to my poem in the creative writing forum... u charmer u...

are u saying that in real life ud say to someone who's gay 'i dont agree with it. its wrong to 'expose' kids to it' etc, as u said in the LGB forum??

personally ive had a (very) minor ruckus with flogen but if i met him in 'real' (for want of a better word) i really wudnt think about it too much.

there are a couple of people i guess id be wary of, because they might have got personal (and mean - im looking at u WWM) about certain topics.

ya, but my point is that i would still say that stuff in real life, unlike a lotta cowards on boards.

    Sure you would spoiirt.

Nah, I'd try and meet people from boards with a clean sheet, I'd ignore any arguements I had.
Although I would have to question some people's intelligence when I first meet them, see if they are stupid as they seem.

what was our rukus over grape? I was trying to remember.... was it in television??

and some people would undergo an intelligence test like Sekrit suggested... only some though

spoiirt ud actually say to someones who's gay ' i dont think children should be exposed to ur sexuality'?? .right.

anyway flogen said i was pretensious in a conversation about the sun newspaper printing some womans idea of art. i didnt go any further in the conversation cus i wudve just got pissed off. pretensious arty people are my pet hate, so being called one by someone who doesnt know me was a little trying on my patience.

however if i met flogen in actual life i wudnt even be thinking about it., each to his own..let sleeping dogs lie...live and let live.... etc etc

on another note, i wud highly reccomend spooiirt taking an intelligence test.

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 10,247 Mod ✭✭✭✭flogen

oh yeah, thats right grape, i remember now....
yeah that was just one of those fleeting arguments, and ditto on meeting you in reality, 'twouldnt hold up against you, sure it was all in good fun.
