Clicksilver just died...

About 10 minutes ago I got disconnected from clicksilver and have been unable to log back onto it, even after a reboot. It timeouts at the "Verifying username and password" stage as it doesn't get a response.

Is this happening for anyone else?

Just posted on the utv support group:

''Our support team have been getting reports of some customers having problems
connecting to our RoI ADSL service (including getting invalid username and
password), our engineers have has checked all network systems and have found
that the fault is not located within our network.

Since we completed our internal checks we have been made aware that third

Was connected again to IOL for ooh maybe 20 minutes there.
Seems to be that time of the month again

I think the MSN messenger thing is probably seperate, I saw something in the news the other day about Microsoft having problems.

Given that everyone bar some Esat exchanges are reselling eircom radsl/adsl , is this down to a certain area of the country or just for certain ISP's ?

No problems on Netsource tonight and don't see any eircom customers (so far) saying that they are disconnecting?

i'm with Irishbroadband, and so far the only problems i've had is that I've had hit and miss access with MSN messenger. Also pings are awall. Download speeds are still good.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,483 ✭✭✭Töpher

Yeah but they dont resell Eircon's package...! Its a bloody conspiracy! I've a frickin clan match in 15 mins! ACK!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,411 ✭✭✭jonski

Just got of the phone to UTV support ,

It's outside their network so there is nothing they can do about it and don't know when it will be back up again .

Odd I pay for the service so when it doesn't work I pick up the phone and ask why and for how long . If UTV pay for the service , how come they can't do the same ?

    John.

I'm on Douglas, Cork exchange too. I rang UTV to ask what the story was, they werent aware that clicksilver was down... or at least didn't seem to be. Didn't really want to bother helping me to troubleshoot either... I might aswell be talking to the wheelie bin outside as ringing utv support these days. Hardly confidence inspiring.

my hand is getting sore from clicking the redial button. Anybody got a program to do it as this is going to become more prevalent as more people join the bb world.

reconnected, internal checks still show the issue is outside out network''

honestly i dont care anymore. All i want is a steady/reliable broadband package and it seems eircom (as much as i hate them) are the only one's that can provide it to me. I've been with utv and netsource and found them auwful

In fairness, ando , netsource has been pretty good since their initial troubles, had almost forgotten about them till the other night and even then other ppl were reporting problems on other isp's, and was fine the next day.

Tonight am d/l @ 104k average with em..couldn't be more happy.

How did you get out of the UTV contract ?

Just when I was about to say, "Hey IOL seem to be getting their act together." It dies...

However is it right to blame IOL? Considering UTV are having problems? Would that not suggest a more sinister cause... Honestly? I couldn't give a damn. This is ridiculous. I mean the whole country offline?

I'm connected with IOL Surf No Limits... and check these pings out.. Even by dial up standards these are poor....

Anything below 60ms is good enough for gaming. Although sub 30 is preferred...
