Anyone know if it's possible to hire a HP-UX machine for a while?
Or even suggest somewhere that you could actually do this?

If you need something on a semi-permenant basis you could always look in the Unix Hardware section on www.eBay.co.uk.

I think Unitech will rent them if you call them.

If you're considering purchasing a system, you may be able to arrange a loan of a system for an evaluation. Probably depends on the spec; you're unlikely to get a workstation for an eval as they are comparatively cheap. HP small to mid range servers typically run cost about 50K before discounts. Don't have the info to hand at the moment. Discounts also depend on use of machine. Machines used for dev purposes attract bigger discounts than production machines.

What do you want to do with it?
You might be able to get a shell somewhere instead of a whole machine.

If you want to borrow the 9000 series, it's still there.
It might be a little old for you.

You don't say what you need it for, but perhaps the HPaq test drive program would suit http://www.testdrive.compaq.com/

    Thanks for the replies guys...

I'm working with a team which tests products developed in the US, which support multiple platforms, i.e. Win32, Linux, Solaris, HP-UX.

The development team have the necessary HW to develop the products, we just don't have any HP-UX machines to test the product, hence the requirement.. The release schedule for these products is relatively infrequent, which is why I'm not too interested in an outright purchase (though it might make more sense in the long run).

Thanks for the offer NiallB. We're going to give Unitech a shout (we'll likely need a couple of machines). If it falls through it, I'll be PM'ing you!

drjolt: I'm not familliar with the test drive product, but these are fairly complex products, so I've a feeling that this might not meet our needs, but thanks for the suggestion.
