    hey,

    after trying out RH9 on VM...after a recent fdisk I said i'd go dual boot this time with RH along side XP Pro.

    problem being RH doesn't seem to like my firewire port.

    after pressing enter on the main screen...it comes up installing drivers for 1394...and then nothing.
    the cd spins down and I have to do a hard reboot.

    I disabled the firewire port and even the controller but still it tries to install drivers and then stops.

    any ideas?

    I assume your talking about during the installation process?

    try passing the following at boot promth time:
    pci=noacpi
    noapic

    Maybe be of some assistance with your crash, also try and note down any kernel messages on the F8 or F10 terminal (unsure which with rh9 install)
