    hey lads,

Was wondering if anyone knew how to play these files formats, a friend gave them to me on a disk but cant use them. tryed to put them on my player but they are not supported by the software on the machine (creative zen).

was wondering if anyone knew a way to change these files into mp3 format of even wma format as they are the two that my player supports!!

    cheers thanks

They're another compressed audio format similar to an mp3. You can play them by installing a codec (Ogg Filters is one example). They're superior in some ways and probably offer a slightly better quality for the same size.

You could re-encode them to mp3 but bear in mind that you'rer encoding from one lossy format to another where both codec's are lossy in diferent ways. This means that the data removed from the source audio is not present to allow encoding to mp3 based on the same high quality of source. If you do decide to do it see what the results are like before deleting the oggs.

A lot of newer mainstream MP3 players (hardware and software) allow playback ... winamp5 plays them with no additional codecs
