ping you're such a fool and a typical example of thread spoilers, Washout - was that the game that set a new record with the amount of runs scored in a one dayer?

Not sure if that game was a record, but would certainly be up there amongst the best one dayers.

Ps anyone know of anyone selling Irish cricket shirts?

OMG, yeah i got up to watch that too, it was soooooooooo intense, what a great match, i couldnt watch at the end, god, pak played amazingly, if only moin had hit a 6 ;) a miracle but miandad did it !
i thought tomorows match was at 10 ? guess il get up at 9 !

Anyway i used to play for belvidere (cant spell) college circket team during the summer, i was quite good and they put me in to play with the forths (i think thats over 21s or something) i was the only young one there, got a few wickets and what not, havent played in a year or so since though,

currently trying to get cricket2004... blah wont download.

well, an end of another intense game but we took the win this time,
just gets better, I think Sami bowled quite well.

cricket2004 is stuck at 99% for me :|

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,414 ✭✭✭✭Trojan

Yeah, Saturdays game was just amazing, those last 10 overs were knife edge, particularly the big 6 that hit the roof :)

The last 2 games haven't gone so well for the sky blues, but they can still come back in the series.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,070 ✭✭✭Placebo

well they are back now, it was expected after the first 2 pakistan win, almost fixed since they didnt want a 3-1 win and yet having to play a 4th match, not giving the crowds what they want, plus now the indian stay in pak for 3 more days, more spending, better relations.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 423 ✭✭Ichiro

Did anyone catch Englad Vs. Windies I saw the first 45mins and fell asleep

Defensive batting in All its Glory!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,070 ✭✭✭Placebo

Your missing out on the PAK vs India series , man.

India won the first match by 6 runs ! the second one pak won by 13 runs and so on.
Its been very very very intense.
    wahey ! the fun !

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,414 ✭✭✭✭Trojan

Placebo: that's quite cynical (the mention of fixing). Reckon there's a chance of that being true?

I've been enjoying it though hard to watch much given it's on during work. That first game really was something special though :)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 423 ✭✭Ichiro

Your right Placebo but my time schedule does'nt fit round the India vs Pakistan games.

So am content with the Windies vs England games
Intersesting today thought the Windies would do well disapointed by Lara (again)
    when will he perform??????

England did well good bowling from Jones and Hoggard.
But the bowling from Tino Best
Oh Dear he's letting me down I'm cheering the windies but am losing my voice.

    enjoyable cricket all the same.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,414 ✭✭✭✭Trojan

India batted first and made 293 for 7, it's currently Pak 62 for 4 after 14.2 overs. For India, Irfan Pathan has taken 3 for 18 off 35 balls!

Hopefully it goes down to the wire like the first game :)

Inzimam has to stay there till at least the 40th over...simple as that for Pakistain to win.

Plus the dew is about to set on the field which will have a bearing....pace bowlers have about 12 overs between them left to bowl.

and if the dew sets in spin bowling will be hell. spinners will have to bowl about 18 overs.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,912 ✭✭✭Washout

    Inzimam OUT WOOHOOO

tendelkar takes a brilliant catch on the long on boundry

    87-5

I wish I had a sky sports stream at work........unfortunatly its the bbc ball by ball updates for me.....

The indians need to get Malik out.

It will be some come back if they pakistani's win.

All 4 ODI's have been belters so far! Great Cricket

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,414 ✭✭✭✭Trojan

233-7, 5.4 overs left - aint looking good for the boys in green.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,912 ✭✭✭Washout

And it wasnt good enough :)

I called my uncle in India after the match and he said he it was like baghdad on invasion night with the amount of ppl on the streets celebrating with fireworks and such.

I still cant believe that India are 5th in the one day rankings

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,070 ✭✭✭Placebo

I cant actually put it into word how much i`m dissapointed, i got the first half and though 294 wouldnt be a big enough total and went to college and taped the rest,
checked the score in college, to my amazment 96-6, it was such a blow, i didnt know what hit me and i was very depressed, checked it later and shohaib was on 50 and moin was on 30 ! LOL !
got home watched shohaib 68 and moins 70, thought we had a chance, if only yasir and some one else would have mad a 20 wed probably have won !
I thought Moin played brilliantly, but despite that we lost and i didnt even know what to think, people not into cricket dont get it, this was a MASSIVE tournament, forget the worldcup, this was it !

ah **** it "!

    Cricket is so so boring!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,912 ✭✭✭Washout

depends on the culture you are brought up on Joey.

In India and Pakistian ppl eat sleep and drink it like eurpoean folk do for soccer.

for example the india pakistain one day series was watched by over 1/2 a billion ppl world wide.

Serious?! thats a sh!t lota people! I dont know, i guess it can be exciting when you get into it, it seems to be a sport playin by a lot of snobby people in ireland and england though. Plus i can never seem to understand the rules!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,726 ✭✭✭✭DMC

    /me waves too.

Was last at Ireland vs South Africa in Clontarf last year, great day out. Might go up to Stormont to see if they can turnover that ragbag of a side called the West Indies again, like they did in 1969 when they bowled them all out for 25!

Thats a LOT of people viewing alright. I'm a big fan of most sports, but cricket isn't one, however this is probably just due to my ignorance, maybe if I was to sit down & watch a few games I'd feel different.

I think you've kinda hit the nail on the head there Joey about the rules, at first glance to me they seem very difficult to understand & also it doesn't get much exposure here in Ireland (ok, it's on sky sports quite a bit) but there aren't many clubs you can join to play it here. (I don't know of any at all)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,912 ✭✭✭Washout

I dont personally think it will ever be taken up big time in Ireland.
It does give the perception that its a snobs game but thats just in this country.

Countries that take it seriously its loved by to commmon man.
just look at the "barmy army" in england lol.

I have an indian background my parents followed it so I did too as a youngster...understanding the rules is natural for me.

but i do agree its hard to see some1 who never watched it ever understanding the game or mind you ever wanting to understand it

I wish Lara would hurry up and get bowled out.

Its really hard to concentrate on work at the moment, since I keep checking every few minutes to see what he's up to.

390 at lunch, and pressing for 400+ by the sounds of it.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 498 ✭✭Harry2001

Great to see Lara get his record back - we don't want no Aussie holding it :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,430 ✭✭✭positron

Brilliant stuff from Lara, allright - 400 is more than what some teams make over an entire test series!!!!

The last India Vs Pakistan test is warming up nicely - its going to be close I guess! :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,726 ✭✭✭✭DMC

Fair play to Lara, but batting first on that concrete slab against a tiring attack wasn't that hard. His first 375 was a better innings, as was Hayden's last October. This was just plain boring. Even the crowd recognised that once he passed 300.

I fancy Hayden or Ponting getting a slab laid in Cairns or Darwin in July when Sri Lanka tour.

Doesnt look like its going to be that close. India are well on top of this game.

    128/1

Pakistaini Bowlers have been unlucky first session day 2......alot of half chances...and umpire david shepard has given an awful not out decision for an lbw shout on Dravid.

On Laras record I totally agree with DMC. but I hope there isnt a precedent set for setting wickets up purely for world record breaking attempts for batsmen.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,726 ✭✭✭✭DMC

I agree Washout, I hope it doesn't set a precedent. But tbh Andy Roberts, one of the officials on the ground in Antigua and commentating on TalkSport said as much that they wanted a pitch that was bat friendly to avoid a whitewash, as the WI attack isn't the greatest. QED Lara gets 400.

Yes it takes greatness to get 400, but conditions did favour him.

If Flintoff wanted to, he could've got 400 (if he had some of the tail to keep him company for a bit longer!)

286/4 in the Ind-Pak test at the mo, India 62 in the lead... now thats a humdinger of a test. :D Its rare for Shep to get it wrong....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,070 ✭✭✭Placebo

    Placebo you pakistani?

    yeah....

as for the test series, not watching it at all. Test`s look real boring, havent actually watched any EVER. Plus all my favourite players are injured - wierd !

Sheps actually got a few wrong in this match. Inzi was caugh plum lbw hitting half way up on middle and leg. but shep gave it n/o...must ridiculous decision i have ever seen. Luckily next bowl he edged it to keeper and justice was done

Dont think its gonna be a humdinger. Pitch has flattened out and is getting slower.

The Pakistaini bowlers are just unable to swing the ball....trying to bowl pace on a slow wicket isnt good.

I expect india to get to 450 on this wicket which is a brilliant score on this wicket.

I have no liking for the game of criket. How does any one see the beauty of the game ? but of course if your team is at the top of the leagues and it is good, maybe you buy their T-Shirt and support them on the terrraces (with the warm beer)

Yeah, I watch the One-day game, I get a bit bored by the Test Matches, I just wish I could get to grips with the Field Positions, but I suppose the only way to do that is to watch the game.

Also, I was wondering if anyone knew of a Cricket Team I could join on the Northside of Dublin, I don't want to join a very competitive team, just have a bit of fun.

Nice innings from Rahul Dravid in the 3rd Test there...nice total too...600.

Pakistan won't catch them, two out already.

    2-1 to India.

No chance he would have done it.He is nowhere near the class of Lara

THere is only a handful of players i think could have gotten 400 on that wicket.

    Rahul Dravid,
    Matthew Hayden and
    Ricky Ponting

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,430 ✭✭✭positron

Well Pakistan tried to wrap it up in the morning session itself, but Indians where not up for it (dropped six easy catches), but then Pakistan had no choice but to let Indians take their own time to win – and its amazing – a test series win abroad, at last! :)

Already looking forward to see them take on England, Australia and Pakistan in UK this Sep.! :)

I'm sorry, my sarcasm detection system wasn't switched on in that post. :D

What I was referring to was that pitch was so benign, Chris Read would've scored a heap of runs.... for him, anyway! :D:D
