Tá go leor daoine anseo báúil don Ghaeilge agus maith sibh as sin. Ach ní fheicim go leor Gaeilge ar an bhforam seo!

Ní cainteor dúchasach mé (faraoir géar) agus nílim romhaith ag cur mo smaointe i nGaeilge bhinn bhlasta cheolmhar na hEireann ach má tá athbheochan na teanga uaithibh, caithfidh sibh scríobh agus caint chomh minic agus is féidir.

B'fhearr liom go raibh sé níos fusa ach nil sé. Fad is a bhíonn sibh ag caoineadh meath na Gaeilge anseo as Béarla tá sibh ag léiriú go bhfuil sibh míchompórdach ag labhairt Gaeilge. Is libhse an Ghaeilge, labhair í. Cén dochar má dhéanann tú go leor botúin ar dtús, níl aon seanmhaisitir scoile ag breathnú thar do ghualainn.

Is fearr gaeilge briste ná bearla cliste.

Níl naire orm labhairt as gaeilge, ach níl an cumas ag gach duine san thread sin gaeilge a labhairt. Thóg mar shampla an duine a thósaigh an thread, Flogen, tá suim aige ann, ach ní beidh sé in an comhra a beidh aige as gaeilge.

    Cén cáinuint a bhfuil agut??

Fresin, ceapaim gur smaoineamh maith é na threads a beidh i gaeilge agus bearla, mar sin tá cuile duine in ann iad a tuiscint.

Broken Irish is better than clever english

I'm not ashamed to speak Irish, but not everyone has the ability to in that particular thread. For example, Flogen who started the thread. He has an interest, but not the ability, as yet.

    Where is your accent/spelling from??

Also, I think it is better to have the threads bi-lingual because then everyone can understand.

Canúint scoile, i dáiríre ach is dócha go bhfuil canúint Chonnachta agam.

Ní bheidh Gaeilge agat mura ndéanann tú iarracht.

    Bíonn gach tosach lag.

    bionn = is

    Every start is weak.

    Pronunciation of tosach?

(I am an absolute beginner so won't embarass myself by trying to write the question as Gaeilge)

    tuss - ach

the first syllable - rhymes approximately with bus in English but the s is more hissing, like a snake sound.

the second syllable like ach in German or in English a as in apple + the ch sound the Scots make in "loch"

This is all very approximate though - it's hard to explain sounds in writing. There is an international phonetic alphabet but I don't know it, I'm afraid.

Is teanga an-chasta é an Ghaeilge. Tá mé i mo triú bhlian ag freastal ar Ghaelscoil, agus fós cuirim seimhiú in áit úru, nó cuirim 'i' isteach chun iolra a dhéanamh nuair atá 'anna' ag teastail. Tógann sé iarracht, tá cúpla cailíní i mo scoil nach chuireann iarracht ar bith isteach agus déanann siad botún an-bhunúsach arís is aríst eile, fiú amháin tar éis a bheith ceartaithe, ar nós 'Caithfidh mé fáil chathaoir' agus ar aille. Ugh!
Ach is teanga álainn é agus bíonn buach mór le fáil tar éis an iarracht a dhéanamh. Ceapaim gur ceart go mbéadh 'Athbheochan Ceilteach' eile againn, timírí a cuir ar fáil arís, mar shampla. Sa bhunracht a scríobh DeValera suas, b'é Ghaeilge an príomh teanga oifigiúl in Éirinn, mar sin cén fáth nach bhfuil sé in úsáid againn?

Is topic iomlán nua é sin. Agus tá sé an cabhrach má scríobhann tú do posts i dhá theangacha do na daoine nach bhfuil gaeilge maith acu. Ar a laghad is cabhair é sin doibh!

Bíonn an grammadaí i gach uile teanga deacair agus gan amhras níl an Ghaeilge aon eisceacht.

That is a whole other topic. And it is really helpful if you write bi-lingualy for those that dont have good Irish. At least its a bit of help

Grammer is hard in every language and Irish is no exception!

Is é an scéal céanna é le gramadach na Gaaeilge!

It's the same story with Irish grammar!

Níl aon rud ach Gaeilge á labhairt i dTeach na nGealt anois, cé nach raibh sé ann nuair a scríobh tú an teachtaireacht thuas.
