Back down in Wexford for a few days, with that easterly blowing, I reckon a good chance of some nice codling in the new quay in wexford..

seems to be the right wind direction, right time of year..

Popped out for a few hours this afternoon.
Wind had turned southerly, and tide was low.
Managed to get fresh peeler + lug in the morning from Dave Scallans (on the road to the Wildfowl reserve) .
Caught 5 small codling -biggest about a pound or so-maybe a pound and a quarter.Missed one nicer fish-had him for a while, but when tackle came in it was obvious why he got away-weed covering the hooks!!
This evening would have been a better bet - rising tide.
Got a parking ticket on the quays too $%£" -forgot it was a disk parking area
    jd (19 euros poorer)
ps rumours of some bass around Ballyhealy-parking is free too, so I may go there tomorrow

Drove down to Ballyhealy Beach-shouldn't have bothered-didn't even take my rod out of the car. Then drove to St Helens- no luck -gave up after an houur. Ballytrent might have been more sheltered. Drove bck into Wexford town, 4 small codling in an hour or so..(to peeler-tide out and turning)

Popped down to St Helens-full tide and rag/peelers..
Loads of rattles on the rod, nothing substantial..
managed to catch 2 very small bass, who I hope to meet again in 10 years or so...

Hi jd i've decided to give the shore fishing a go instead of the coarsefishing.
I am going back to wexford on wed and staying until sun night.
I was looking at this http://www.fishingireland.net/wexford/wxsea.htm#10
and decided to give courtown and cahore point a go as i am staying in courtown so there are close.
I am a novice when it comes to seafishing so any idea of whats rigs and bait to use and where to get them.

    Cheers
    Gary.

    What gear do you have?
Do yopu have a pike or carp rod?

    take a look here
    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?s=&threadid=64516&highlight=tackle

You can pick up bait on the old road between Wexford and Gorey (take a left on the main street@)-look for a sign on the left hand side leaving Gorey (you need a car).

I'd use ragworm or peeler, if yoiu can get it. If you have a spining rod- maybe try spinning for bass!

    trh here

(I'm more familiar with the South Wexford marks!)

I have 1 carp ,2 pike rods and a spinning rod.
I was planning on using the carp rod as is it a 12ft with stiff butt action while having a softer tip action.
I wouldn't mind doing a bit of spinning for bass, what type of spinners would you recommend?
Where abouts is the old road between gorey and wexford ?have you a ph no. for this place.

Tried St Helens yesterday afternoon for a while-a rising tide - but nothing..
popped back into town and caught 4 codling in an hour on the new marina- biggest about a pound and a half- to peeler and lug.
