To get free stuff on Sky Box office, simply do the following:

1: Go to order your chosen box office film!
2: When it's put into the personal pplanner, unplug your phoneline from your box at lest 2 mins before your chosen film starts
    3: Watch your film
4: After film, plug back in your phoneline(COMPLETELY optional)
5: Wait 1-8 weeks later and you won't receive any billing for you film! ww)

    WARNING!!!!!

WAIT until film completely finishes(After end credits finish) to plug your phoneline! Otherwise, you'll be charged!

    Not quite.

The digibox stores any PPV info, so whether you disconnect before/during/after/whatever the box still retains the debit info. At some point it'll tell Sky that you owe them money. There's a certain amount of 'credit' you can use without a phone connection iirc.

That will not work. Sky does not make your digibox do a call back when you order or watch a PPV movie - it usually happens over night. Eventually you will be charged for those movies...

my digibox has NEVER been pluged into a phone line....

    would this work?

So you get one free film every eight weeks? Wahey!

Seriously though, I'll echo what the other guys have said - the box stores all PPV info so you'll get billed for what you watch eventually, unless you never plug the phoneline in again. There is a certain amount of credit on the box (maybe ~€50?) which will allow you to order stuff without the phoneline, but once that runs out you'll have to plug the phoneline back in if you want to order anything else.

By the way, getting free PPV is stealing and therefore illegal, so unless you want to get banned I'd stop discussing how to 'trick' Sky.

*waits for thread to be locked*

I never ordered a film since I have sky and i never plug my line in. Any good films coming up?:)

No, I've been doing it since April lat year and I still have to be charged! I SWEAR! Still haven't been charged!

If anyone else feels tempeted to do this, do it, and you WON'T be disapointed!

I suppose if the box was faulty this could happen, as the infomation IS logged and there IS a limit so you will normally get a message eventually asking you to 'phone customer services.
Also, as stated this is technically stealing from Sky, something Uncle Rup's Boys don't take lightly - so if a News Corp Flying Saucer appears over your house some night, don't say we didn't warn you !!!

Would this work for a football match on Premiership+ or Setanta?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,967 ✭✭✭Dun

You have to plug your phone line in before it will let you order anything, otherwise it'll tell you to ring Sky directly to book whatever it is you want to watch.

As someone was saying, it's practically pointless, as you'll only get to order a certain amount before it will demand that you contact the mothership. We can't get our digibox to phone home, so our credit limit is up, and Sky don't seem to have any advice other than to leave it plugged in, but it's impractical to do so during the day, and even leaving it on all night doesn't work.

yes it will but as pointed out already it is not free, more like Sky giving you credit for a little while. only so much can be stored until the box tells you that there is insufficient room on the card to order

It's like shoplifting really. You pay the price when you are caught.

Cant beleive this thread is still running.Almost as silly as the 9v battery trick...... Mods please kill it....

The credits are stored on the the viewing card not in the box.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 28,128 ✭✭✭✭Mossy Monk

isnt it stored on both the card and the box?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 54 ✭✭skycards

    No just the card .

Lots of people watching Sky in Europe bring their cards back to the UK , leave them in a UK box for a night or 2 . Sky then bill the card user ( not the box owner) and he is free to use his card for ppv again.

    Don't listen to IDIOTS

    1) No-one has EVER succesfully ripped off Sky.

    2) Attempting to get PPV or subscription TV free, EVEN if you don't succeed is a crime with large fines in this country.

    3) It DOES store info in Box AND Card. Shred card and get a replacement from Sky and the "missing" PPV will appear later.

tossing aside his glasses, LurkingIcon dashes forth from the Satellite viewing room to Watty's Batcave.

That battery trick: Best that can happen is you get a free movie. (Wow thats good).
Worst that can happen is you blow the crap out of the card and box.
Hey lads its a free world, Do it if you feel the urge.....

Nope, you will be found out doing this, i ordered about 4 movies when i first got the box and was never billed, but a year later, the phone line had to be connected to the box and theni got billed.

    You will be found out

See, I've only dissapeared for about a week, and i've missed all this action on my own thread! And, I NEVER leave my phoneline connected to my box 24/7, so until I eventually do, I'll be having €5.50 extra for each film I've ordered!
