i took out my camera the other day to take a pic.
turned it on, and the screen was all weird.
on closer inspection, the screen seemed to be cracked on the inside.
i DID NOT drop it, or sit on it, etc.
    bought at amazon.co.uk,
went to pentax at the belgard rd. to suss the story [still under guarantee]
guy there said asked if i dropped it, etc.
said there was no way pentax would fix it under guarantee.
he also said it would cost €200 to get a new lcd!

so i contacted amazon, and i am waiting for a reply.
    [but i'm not confident]
forking out €200 for one part of a camera that only costed just over €300.
    i'm not a happy chappy.

i scanned the camera to show the damage.

its not the end of the world though, it could have been the lens or something, if its only the screen the camera should be fully operational?

    good luck with amazon though.

    nope. just me left.

sent an email to amazon, they said to send it over!
hope it's not for no reason, and they tell me to fu*k off.

funny, exact same thing happened to me about two weeks ago.
You'l probably be better off keeping your 200 euro and buying a new one.
    That's what I'll do anyway

gobby are you going to fix it with some staples and a ball point pen?
...you don't get it, it will not function without the lcd.

i don't think he is much of a fool, i made a similar comment above in my post saying that it wasn't the end of the world that if it was only the camera screen i thought the camera would be fully operational.

my digital camera can operate with or without the lcd screen on, if you wanna conserve battery power or if you prefare to use the screen, so i was under no impression that screen damage would stop total function of the camera.

you mention it is cracked from the inside perhaps that is indicative of further damage?

no, i'm just slagging gob, he's a mate of mine.
the camera seems ok apart from the screen,
but you cannot go through the menus using the viewfinder
[only the fuji TTL - "through the lens" can do that]
    so it's basically unusable.

i emailed amazon about the problem, but never said that screen was "cracked", only "damaged".
    they replied saying:
"we can confirm that once we have recieved the item back to our fulfilment centre we will be able to issue you a replacement"

but i won't hold my breath, we'll see what happens.
    i sent it yesterday.

    i'll keep ye updated.

Amazon won't give a ****, they'll whip it back to pentax, get credited on it. No problem.
