Subliminal Messages

Did anyone hear that guy on 98fm last night who records pulic speeches from the academy awards, news, politics etc and plays them backwards to find subliminal messages???

im skeptical but it freaked me out.

There was loads of good ones i cant remember but...

In the new Diana tapes where she's talking about walking up the isle, looking for Camila in the crowd - played backwards it sounds extremely like she say's 'there's the bitch that chased us'

Sean Penn after making his return to the bigtime- his academy award winning speech backwards was something like 'from death i have come back'

And most weird was the war interview with Sadam where he refused to speak any english- one part played backwards says -in english- 'the west will take Iraq'

If u havent heard it and just read this you'll prob just laugh but if you'd heard it its a bit more like 'wtf!'

A recording which has a message embedded in it in such a way that when you play it backwards you hear the message, is NOT a subliminal message. It has no effect on your subconscious, you cant even make it out ffs.

A subliminal message implies something that the conscious mind cant detect but the subconscious mind can. As such you find you want to do things you cant explain.

Remember the Judas Priest trial in the States about 10 years ago, two goons ahd shot themselves afer supposedly listening to Sad Wings Of Destiny non stop for over 12 hours? The lawyers for the prosecution found all sorts of messages about satan and killing yourself all over the record when played backwards in particular on the "Better By You, Better Than Me" track which was a cover anyway. Judas Priest's lawyers found clearest of all

"I asked for a peppermint, I asked you to get it"

among the backwards nonsense. Needless to say, the case was thrown out.

One must consider that the human mouth can make only a finite number of noises, so all this backwards stuff is merely co-incidence, nothing more. How come no-one ever finds nice messages backwards?

By the logics of communication

if (IF) this is true

the messages have been encoded subconcioulsy by the human mind

therefore it can be assumed that a (not necissarily any) human mind can decode the message on an subconcious level


and what does that spell kids................?

Reminds me of something i read one of those freaks from slip knot said about the amount of airplay 'how you remind me' got!

speaking of slipknot, they have a song (called iowa.. it's 15mins long before you rush off to dl it) which at a certain part, if you play it backwards has messages in it which were recorded and put in during production... pretty nifty

Did you ever notice how the complaints about teenaged brats' behaviour being inspired by hidden lyrics and subliminal messages stopped when vinyl went out of fashion?

I'd like to see one of the US God Squad trying to blame the antics of their little darlings on subliminal messages hidden on a CD... Tisn't as easy twirling the disc anti-clockwise for a giggle with one of them...

It might not be on the subliminal scale of things but has anyone heard of the syncing between Pink Floyd's "Dark Side Of The Moon" album and the movie "The Wizard Of Oz"

It's all explained here

The short version is this:- When you play the album with the movie on mute, one echoes the other with events on screen happening in sync with the sounds from the album.

I think I remeber hearing other subliminal-type stories -

- On the Oasis song "Do You Know What I Mean?" There is morse code at the beginning and it's meant to spell something out (not sure what)

- On the same note I think it was a Pink Floyd album that was played backwards that revealed the message - "Congratulations. You have just found our hidden message"

I should really have done more research before posting all this. I could be wrong on various counts.

The movie "Jade" would be the most famous of these, where they actually put frames in hinting who the killer is...interesting idea but the end was such an anti-climax because of it.

Apparently only works with the US NTSC-coded version (the site mentions that a specific release it "best" but doesn't mention the PAL speedup problem (the UK release will be 4% shorter))

A bit like in Fight Club, with the references to subliminal messages in the movie and the addition of actual subliminal messages of Brad Pitt at certain points throughout the film (Along with a nasty piece of editing at the end! )

I'm not actually sure what it is your trying to say, but I assure you, at no point was my intention to piss on your point just to try and show off my knowledge of the english language.

I'm trying to point at that subliminal implies something you hear but dont understand, and as such it affects your subconscious mind or somesuch craziness.

The fact that the track has to be played backwards means the only time you can hear it is when its played backwards and you consciously hear it?

I'm not sure about you but I cant speak or understand people talking backwards, let alone when they are singing backwards.

I watching MTV today, and there was an ad for something at 10pm. 10 was isolated on it's own and right beside it was a dog with a single large spot on it, which submitted the subliminal message "10 spot", i had to look twice to see where i picked up the message from. It was quite cleverly done, and i don't think many people would notice it. Either it was an accident, or the ad was done by some stoner designer.

you're saying that in real time its not subliminal cos no one can understand it or be in any way affected by it right?

Im saying that if human subconcious is capable of creating such a message than it is very possible that it could be understood by others - all on a subconcious level, in real time one off hearing - not played backwards or anything.

anyway this is all assuming that there is some kind of truth to this
