Anyone using MSI TV @nywhere?

I am trying to configure my TV card but no matter what I did, there's still nothing on the screen. Occasionally I get a blurry picture but no sound. Can anyone help me?
If you have a MSI TV @nywhere, could you tell me how you configure the channels?

I got myself the TV @nywhere Master last week from komplett. Its a very good card I must say, recording is quite good with it. Only problem is actually the software. It is kind of buggy. Ive been getting updates from the MSI Website to try and fix them.

Also problem I found after I installed it. I get the blue screen of death [ :( ] when going into hibernation/stand by/shut down. Seems to have messed up an IRQ or so but im getting no conflicts. Im just done an uninstall of the origional drivers and a install of the new updated drivers. Hopefully it will fix it.

Problem you seem to be having is bad reception. Try and get a better aerial or so. If not then take off the "Free Scan" option and try again. I dont have that switched on, although TV3 is nearly unwatchable and TG4 can be fuzzy :(

Anyone know any better software for watching TV with?

i use the MSI tv anywhere card, all i did was plug my cable into the back of it.

I had to take off the free scan thing though that winters mentioned and i let it run through and detect every channel i had available (which took a fair bit but just make yourself a cup of tea and have a cigy or something...)

Once done most channels were fine apart from E4 which was really fuzzy for some reason or other, i had to fine tune some of the other channels but in general the picture was ok, although i kept it on a lower res and watch it most of the time on a window (1280x1024 desktop, and if i maximize screen it can seem fuzzy for some reason)

also check your aerial connections to make sure the live lead is getting through (or touching the metal pin if you put it together yourself like me)

Just to mention too. If you have WindowsXP and Service Pack 1 installed you should download the updated drivers from the MSI downloads. It seems there are a few bugs with the TV @nywhere card and SP1 with the software that comes on the disc's but the updated drivers fixes any problems.

I has having a blue screen as mentioned above but it is fixed with the updated drivers. Also I have found a nice 3rd party piece of software which is a plugin for Winamp. It will allow you to use the TV card on the Winamp Video screen [Winamp 2/5]. It works perfectly too, just you cannot record or capture still etc. from it. Still though, its quite useful. I will post up a link to it tonight as I dont have it handy in collage.

I run my screen in 1280x1024 and the card does run smooth. Only problem is im running an antenna so I am only getting 4 channels, TV3 has no sound and TG4 can be fuzzy at times. Pity. Worth the money though.

i am using xp sp1 and i dont have the updated drivers, could this be the reason for quality decrease when i put it in full screen mode you think?

i usually watch it at half/3 quarter desktop size normally when lying in bed at night (if not watching a dvd...)

no, that's just how it is with the software and the card, It captures the TV stream at 640x480, so if you go any bigger than that you will not see improved quality and anti-aliasing will come into effect. I find the software to be very buggy and tempermental, but the overall quality : price is pretty good.

Well the aerial is connected to the jack as my TV which works fine. I get all the basic cable channels. I have tried using the free scan and without it but same thing. It seems not able to pick up channel. I have updated the drivers/software from MSI website as suggested by Winters but stil no difference. I only got the updates for TV @nywhere Master and not the TV @nywhere. Will try to tinker with it some more.

do all tv cards output to 640x480?
coz that would be crap on a 21" monitor.

Argh, having to type this again as refreshed it by accident!

Ok, under PAL tv is broadcast at about 720x576. Due to the high quality of monitors you will notice any problems easier then with a conventional television ... I find. Due to the TV resolution being so low you can see why you cant actually run a PC through a conventual TV. If you maximise it fullscreen all you need to do is sit a good bit back from the monitor and you will see it as being perfect.

Ok, you dont need to download the TV @nywhere drivers if you have the TV @nywhere Master card. They are differant cards really, although have the same tv decoder in i think. Not too sure.

OK and now for the Winamp plugin. This will allow you to configure the TV @nywhere Master card to run in Winamp 2 or 5 in the Video screen. It works perfectly too, although setbacks are no recording feature etc. and also it takes a good while to scan all the channels. It also supports the FM Radio on the card too. Find the plugin here.

Also, nearly forgot. neokenzo, make sure you have the TV input set to Cable. Go into the Settings/Properties window and select the TV tab. In the Tuner Input switch it from Antenna to Cable. That should fix a problem or two ...... hopefully.

I have tried using Winamp. It picked 180 channels but all of them are E4 and no sound. Even with MSI, it keeps picking up only E4 and nothing else.
Tried setting it to cable but no difference.

I have been tinkering with the InterVideo WinDVR software that came with the TV card but I cant seem to make it work. It only detects E4 which I get great but there's no sound. Do I need to connect the audio cable to my sound card? I tried that but still no audio. What do I need to do in the audio settings? Does anyone knows how I can get other channels?

I have downloaded WinDVR 3. During scan I could see that it can detect all the channels but didnt save it. Still getting only 1 channel and no audio.

I retried using Winamp 5 and got all channels but still no audio.

I would prefer using a software that allows me to record. Is there any other software I can use this TV card with?

from the audio cable provided with this card i took it and plugged it into the "line in" plug on my audigy 2 and have never had any problems with sound...

also try fine tuning it, sometimes on a couple of channels i never got sound properly till i fine tuned the channel myself

I got it working now. The only channel I'm not getting is C4 which I can live with. I dont know what I did though. The only difference is I install WinDVR 3. Thats all. Not sure whether its WinDVR 3 or something else. Doesnt really matter as long as it works :)
