Hey guys, after breaking my geforce 4 ti4200 by accident I decided to upgrade to a radeon 9800 pro. The problem is im getting very sub-par performance with it, even with 3d mark 2001 (which i could score 12,000+ with my ti4200) im only getting 8,400. Anyone any idea's how to fix this? For the record my specs are Asus a7v333 motherboard, amd athlon 2600+, sound blaster audigy 2 platinum ex, radeon 9800 pro, 512 mb ram, 2 X 120 gig h/ds, 1 X 30 gig hard drive, 52X cdrw and an 8 X dvd-rw, windows xp pro (fresh install). All drivers are upto date, and direct X is at 9.0b. Any help would be appreciated! Cheers.

Im getting that crap also. Used to use win2k and got a benchmark of 12k but now when i upgraded to winxp im only getting 8k. I played some games and they seemed to run just as good in win2k so i just ignored my 8k benchmark.

So someone might be able to help the 2 of us ??

your better off checking fps in games to see if you have a problem synthetic benchmarks mean nothing

Cheers for the replies. Ive tried running unreal 2 and do have some frame rate issues, even at 800 x 600. My worry is that the freak accident that broke my ti4200 (part of a table fell on the back on my computer, the corner of it hitting the graphics card) might have damaged my motherboard. I cant seem to access the bios on startup now either (allthough i havnt had to in a long time, and the first screen of the bios loading seems to be replaces with details of my maxtor controller card).

(btw powerstrip shows the card to have the correct amount of ram and the clock speeds to be correct so the card doesnt seem faulty)

try resetting bios by using the jumper or removing the cmos battery for a few mins
then see if you can access it maybe something in bios is set wrong

ill try that now, and ill post back in a few mins.

Which did you try? Removing the battery might require a much longer wait than a few minutes. If you haven't tried it, change the cmos jumper setting to reset, leave that for about 30 seconds, change back and power up. Hold delete key (or F1) during bootup to access BIOS

I changed the cmos jumper setting to reset, and i managed to get into the bios. After checking everything im still getting very bad performance, so I just bought a new motherboard/cpu/ram of komplett which should take casre of everything.
