dns lookup problem...

    Hi,
    Does anyone have any ideas about the following:


    Have a laptop here that had mydoom and doomjuice virus’s,
    Have removed them and pretty sure no other virus’s.
    This laptop is on a small network(15 or so machines)
    Now the problem is I can ping any ip on the internet but not host names from this laptop. All other machines on the network are working fine, problem is with just this machine.
    It is a windows 2000 machine. Can ping host names on the network.
    The dns servers are correct and can ping them.

    Can anyone think of any ideas?

    what happens when you run nslookup from dos?

    it gives me the error:
    Can't find server name for address X.X.X.X No response from server.
    Does this for both the dns server ip's,and then:
    Dafualt servers are not available!


    Now these server ip address's are correct.

    Any ideas?

    nslookup name
    this should return the ip of your dns server

    what does an
    ipconfig /all
    show?

    ipconfig /all shows everything correct....

    How are you connecting to the internet?
    Try setting up your internet sharing again.

    it connects through the lan,
    everything is set up fine, i think that a file or something might have been deleted?
    The Mydoom virus and Doomjuice were both on the machine before this problem,
    i did remove both of these tho.

    I am not using the hosts or LMhosts files...

    Any one know how to debug this a bit more?
