I was just wondering is there more that 4 ranks

Lieutenant
Commander
Captin and if so where do you become which,
is the lsat two only for moderators?

Only 4 ranks afaik, you start out as an Ensign, you change to lieutenant after 30 posts, Commander is a moderator of a board, Captain is a moderator of all the boards.

the number of ranks is completely up to the boards admin(s) ... but most have roughly 5-6 but completely customisable.

Would it be possible to add ranks like say
Ensign
100 posts = leitenint
500 posts = kernal
1000 posts= Guy with way to much free time or uber spammer
5000 posts = needs to get a life(hobbes, hehe)

Do I have 5000 posts? Actually anything over 4000 and they automatically name you Hobbes to avoid any further embarrassment.

I've been posting since the boards opened. There are people here with 1000+ posts who haven't, and have just been posting crap to increase thier count. So you will find my post to time ratio isn't first in the list. :P

Personally, I've over 1400 posts and registered last April. I don't think thats incredibly high tally in almost a year or that it necessarily means I've "just been posting crap to increase [my] count" - which I don't believe I have. I'm sure my posting has slowed somewhat of late anyway, not that it really matters. Some people have more to say than others. I was actually asked to moderate one of the boards but didn't take up on it.

It wasn't the trolls board, that's for sure. From what I gather a lot of the moderators here want thier hands on that puppy (I plan to delete everything).

actually, ive only ever had to delte one post and lock another one.
we keep a fairly level, if somewhat quiet and lonely existance in the work area.

There was a time when I was up there with Hobbler and Wibbly Wobbly Man - but then I got sick of the muppetry in Irish Quake and disappeared for nearly a year (which cost me considerably). Then, after getting the humour board, I began the "good 'un" campaign in reply to everything posted on the board and that gave me 1000 posts in an hour

lol i have one of the lowest post counts
on the boards and i have been reged for years
but last time they did up the list of people who read the boards i had the top place on it
and there is far too much spam from gimps trying to get up there post count.
i think there should be a ranks on your time and your posts that way you will stop a lot of the spam on the boards.
