What Linux Distro to get?

hey, Im a relatively new user to linux I had redhat 7.1 a year ago but i had to get rid of it coz my computer went crazy(lets just say it involved a cat) but im thinkin of gettin linux again,possubly mandrake?Any ideas on a linux distro for a relatively new linux user but with a good computing knowledge?
