Strange dream

Dreams. Mad things. I had this one just last night after the beers.

I was being held hostage by someone wearing a mask in a tiny room with only a candle lighting the room. His voice was familiar but I couldnt place exactly who it was. He was holding me against my will for what seemed like forever, shouting at me, threatening to kill me, slapping me. All of a sudden then he decided to let me go free. He untied me and opened the door, but when he told me I could leave I got this sense of panic and I pleaded with him for me to stay. He kept telling me to go but I couldnt I was sort of paralysed with fear of him leaving me.

Has anyone ever had a dream like this? Probably not, but can anyone offer a rational explanation behind it???????
