Shumey broke last years lap record for Albert park set by Webber during the race by over 1 second during practice earlier today, the top teams only did a few laps to save their engines , but of course "Herr Macher" bounces over kerbs , narrowly misses a wall , all the usual stuff and then breaks the record.... bring on the race..10 points

Yep, & he only went out for 4 laps, the rest had 5. Rubens in the other Ferrari was only a tenth away from him & the next car was nealy a second slower than that. :D

It's nice to see the Minardis somewhere other than the very back of the grid!!

Yeah, very true. Times are hard when you see a Minardi giving a Jordan a run for its money!!

Read somewhere earlier that the best Jordan (obv Heidfeld) was 4secs a lap down on the Ferraris or sumat stupid, looking forward to see exactly what EJ's "fightback" will do next...

Eddie needs to work some of his old magic from the early 90s. I get the impression that he's tired of the whole thing and isn't putting the same huge effort into the team that he used to. Maybe he's not as hungry to succeed now that he's got money in the bank and his retirement is secure.

Didn't he used to pump his own money into the team? And he's been quoted as saying that he won't quit F1 till he wins the WC, so he'll be around a while yet! After letting go of Gascoyne, (but there was nothing EJ could do about that if he couldn't match what he was getting offered elsewhere), I don't know quite where it all went so wrong... :(

It all seemed to go wrong around the time EJ fired Heinz Harald Frentzen. Things went very bad after that.

I think it would be a good thing for formula 1 if Micheal tried for a new challenge. Hes been the best driver in the best team for too long now. I liked him at Benneton when his car was second best, but to just sit in the best car for 6 years is getting dull. To me 50% of his race wins are worthless, because any old Rosset could win in that car.

I don't know that I'd agree that anyone could win in Schueys car, though Rubens has been doing a great job the past few seasons. Michael said he enjoys racing as much as he's ever done and he still finds it a challenge so fair play to him for sticking at it. He's a fantastic benchmark for Kimi, Fernando, Rubens and JPM at every race and, imo, the sport would be dull without him.

With HHF being the most techically minded driver out there at the time- so what if he wasn't having the best season- he brought the team to 3rd place before when he was the second driver...
I miss him as he was what the sport was about...
EJ made a big mistake and wont admit it- rummours ran regarding the split but nothing ever confirmed with some honesty (or was I asleep at the wheel...)

I think I may be leaving Jordon behind- might try something new
Sato has been a favourite for a while, and kimi seems like a nice fella. :)

As for Frentzen I agree, I dunno what EJ was thinking when he got rid of him. He should have kept him on, he seemed to be getting the hang of the car from what I remember- that was a while ago tho what year was that?

As for Schu? And man do I hate him but you gotta respect him- take Rubens, or the Saubers for that matter- not much difference in the speed, to be honest, and afaik don't they drive the same tires? Ok, so aerodynamics, design, how the engine is tuned, but put Rubens, or Fissie for that matter (who I hightly admire) in das grosse Kinn's (The Big Chin's) car and I'm sorry, they can't do it.

Schumacher is on top because he's the best. I'd like to see someone beat him though, not just win because he retired but actually beat the bastard.
I had hopes for Montoya when he thundered onto the circut like a coked-up Columbian maniac- but he couldn't touch him, I had hopes for Mr "I'm so cool I piss liquid nitrogen" Raikkonen too, but he seemed to loose his cool around the Chin. Even when McLaren had the Ferrari's ass whooped speedwise, back when we had those great Schumacher/Hakkinen battles, he was still up there wasn't he. The reason Schumacher is up there with the best is because he is the best. And it pains me to say that, but it's true. Don't get me wrong, I hate the bastard I really do, I used to excuse every victory, ah Rubens let him win, Hakkinin's engine exploded, he shoulda got a stop-go penalty, the safety car worked in his favour, Montoya's car was sabotaged, he eeh, made a Faustian deal, he used his Jedi mind-trick on Coultard....

I've given thinking those thoughts, they made me bitter, now I can watch the Chin and appreciate him. I mean, there's hundreds of other things for me to bitch about- and how.
