Anyone out there remember a program on the telly called 'Slege Hammer'?
I used to be and still am a huge fan. Feels like I'm the only bloke in Ireland who has ever seen it. No one else I ask has even heard of it.
Anyone know where I could find a few copies on video or dvd?

"Trust me, i know what i'm doing" - wasnt that Hammer's favourite thing to say..?
I forgot he ever existed - funny you mentioned him.

    Ah Sledge Hammer was great.

Anyone remember when his gun was kidnapped and he got a tiny gun to replace it? Great one.

And then there was the episode (possibly the last one?) where Hammer set off a nuclear warhead in the city.

He was pretty good, the gun was excellent.

Did the gun have a name?

    It's all coming back now..
One really stands out for me.. The one with the bloke with the hairy arms,'reject from the plannet of the apes' as Hammer put it..

It was released on VHS in the US. Some Asian company has released a (semi-official) DVD of the first season in Japan and will follow with season 2 but is charging about 200 euros for each one.

Apparently there's talk of a proper release that sane people might actually buy. Alan Spencer (one of the writers) has a site here

You know Dany Elfman wrote the theme?

You sure? I know it was listed but when I turned it on it was that crappy VH1 Sledgehammer show.

What was his partners name... She was a beauty..
I remember one episode she had to carry Hammer up something like 70 flights of stairs..
And he was always on about how inferior woman were to men...

The episode with the quiz show and he knew the final answer to the question.

And when asked about his views on the death penalty
"it's too lenient - there's always the possibility of reincarnation."

Yeah I used to watch it too when I was younger. It was an excellent show, maybe it'll be re-run or re-released on DVD at something less excessive than €267

Just checked IMDB, Dori Doreau was her name and the actress who played her went on to co write Twister!

The band Jesus Jones used a recording of Sledge Hammer saying his catchphrase for the start of their song "Trust me" in 1990

Anyone remember the episode where he threw the paper aeroplane and it got stuck in his Captain's hair. The captain went around for the rest of the episode with it sticking out the back of his head. They just don't make comedy like that anymore....

    LOL - brilliant!
Remember the episode when Sledge was called to a crime scene - there was a sniper on the roof of a building. He calmly walked back to his car, opened the boot, took out a bazooka and took down the whole building!

I remember Sledge Hammer being on ITV on Friday nights. It was on at around 10:45 - 11:00 after News At Ten. That was around 1988-89 I was aged eleven at the time and it was one of my fave programmes.

ya, that was pretty cool, that nut cop who used to apologise to his beloved gun if he got the bad guy without having to fire a shot.

its actually so dated now you'd only see it at like 3am on some satellite channel that re-runs old shows. Still, it can't be beat for the type of show it is.
