CPU installed, fan installed, memory installed, graphics card installed, psu installed and connected all the neccessary connection to power up the mobo. Conencted to a monitor and turn the power on. There power light from the mobo turns green, however, there's no beep and nothing on the monitor. Tried rearranging the wires but nothing happened. Everything else powers up. Even tried connecting the hard drive which powers up okay but no beep and nothing on the monitor.

Does anyone knows how to fix this or is the mobo dead?

A friend of mine thinks a ram problem. I tried it with and without ram but I didnt try any other ram with it.

    Any thoughts/suggestions?

Are you using standoffs so that the back of the MB inst touching and part of the case, the board may be shorting out check all contact areas.

It could be the RAM, what type are you using. (speed, brand etc...)

Also make sure the jumper for the bios is covering the correct pins.

    Thanks joePC

My friend and I even took the mobo off the case and tried it outside the case, no difference.

The ram I used is 1Gb kit EL DDR PC-3200 Platinum Limited Edition - OCZ. Tried using 1GB and 512MB. The thing we didnt do is swapping the slots. We put the ram on slot 1 and 2 and then only on slot 1.

Not sure about the jumper but probably done that as well. We were tinkering with it for 3 hours and tried everything that we can think of.

Theres an extra, ATX 12v power connection (a small square one) at the top left of the mobo. Thats beside the parallel port connector, and to the left of the CPU.
Sometime people forget to plug that in, and it causes the problem you have

No there is not second power connector on the A7N8X board, if its not working after all that then I'd say its a goner, do you remember hitting it during installation or when you where putting on the HSF, I would say last ditch attempt double check the grapjics card is fully pushed into the slot there should be no gold connectors showing when installed.

    Thanks joePC

well its a k8v, so Via an athlon 64 ? In which case it should have a 4 pin power plug.

i have a K8V delux too, i remember when i forgot the ATX 12v power connection for a minute, the pc showed the same symptoms as you described

about that board too, it is very fussy about ram, i had to change a ram setting from auto to 333 to make my ddr400 ram work stabily

check if you have a gfx card that requirs an extra floppy power connection too

Thanks l3rian for the link. I saw that site when I googled it yesterday. I did not know about the 4 pin yesterday. I will do it today. Will post the results later.

    Thanks everyone.
