Where would be the best couple of places to take some good photos in and around the dublin area..

    Eg unusual buildings etc??

Don't know about unusual buildings, but Howth Head can be really nice around sunrise or sunset. And its quite easy to get to on the Dart.

The docks and train stock yards down past the IFSC / point depot area have plenty of interesting structures for you to photograph.

    The botanical gardens.

Up around the liberties or smithfield.

Tbh theres loads of great places around the city centre if your looking for buildings. I espically love the old buildings with the big painted signs on the side "Smyth & Son Quality Cobblers" etc.

Howth is probably my favourite place, not just the head but all around it, down toward Sutton and Baldoyle, just go for a walk.

Also check out some parks, St. Annes park has some nice ruins etc.

Although most good places you'll find will probably be infested with junkies :dunno:

The whole of Dublin is photograph material. Town in general. Stephen's Green in the summer...

I took some pics in a car scrapyard, this is just an example. But the smallest little things may be as good as your huge epic landscapes

I find Dublin on eof the hardest places to get good photographs, but perhaps it's only coz I'm usually just in the city centre and can't find much there. The botanic gardens are great though. After reading some of the other comments here i'm looking forward to trying some new locations like smithfield and howth though.

    Depends what you're into, really.

If you've got an eye and a purpose, you can probably make something out of anything.

dublin/ireland doesent have the best light for photography but a really sunny day or the hour after sunrise and before sunset can be the best times for good results.

At this time of year you get good sunrises - try photos across the bay from poolbeg?

Yeah - I didn't have atripod with me so rested the camera on a stone wall.
Will have to rotate the image and crop it to make the horizon flat...or go out with a tripod and see if I can get the photo again.

Sandymount? There's a 5k race along the beach this evening which should present some good photo opportunities...

    Thanks.
You wouldnt believe the weird positions the little f*cker could put his wings in.
Had to take about 10 photos to get one with the wings in the right place.
