u cud just..eh.. stop drinking after a few pints.

drink a pint of water between every drink.
if u think its that big a deal, just stop drinking altogether.

Yeah, if you know you can have a good night on only a few pints then deliberately set out to pace yourself for a few nights.

You'll have a good night, you'll find it a lot easier to get up the following morning and you'll have a lot more cash left in your wallet.

I agree, its so hard to stop once you had a few, heavy on the old purse strings.

So thats why I drink before hand and then I'll sneak say a naggin in.
    Problem solved!

    Wait.....what was the question?

    haha
well thats the problem i got..
if i was to drink before i go to town...
i would drink the same amount in town, as if i didnt drink at all before i went in...
    so i end up getting f****d :)

Well when I start out, I drink my first few pints vveerrry slowly. I get ribbings from my mates, for I drink so slow. Try that - moderate your pace. Ignore any jibes, take smaller sips. That way if you're going to keep drinking all night, the same volume won't be passing between your lips. If there's a rounds system in operation, just opt out or - when it's your round - just don't get yourself a drink....

Some nights i'll go out and be the same as yourself in as much as i don't stop drinking. I'll continue drinking and get a total blackout. Scares the **** out of me then for a few weeks so i will go out and watch how much alcohol i'm consuming. Then it'll happen again, i'll be out and will end up at a lock-in and get continue drinking (so drunk i don't realise) to the point where my memory is gone again. This weekend i was adamant, one night out and a quiet one at that! Brought 50 Euro and said "right when that's gone that's the end of it, drink water!". Well needless to say i ended up at the cash point and heading to a niteclub. Lesson from that: Not to forget to leave my bank card at home as well!. Only consolation was i wasn't plastered and ended up on water after a few in the niteclub anyway.

There's going to be nights were you go overboard, hopefully only the odd night. As you drink pints why not go on shandy's after a few?

I'll offer my services. I will escort you on your nights out, and when I deem that you have had too much, you buy me drinks instead. I offer this service free of charge, as your story really tugs on the auld heart strings.

Head to an AA meeting and see what they have to say? You don't have to admit to having a problem you can just go in and sit and listen.

If you seriously can't stop yourself from drinking it sounds like you have a problem.
Can you go a week without the booze?

If you don't have a problem, just use good judgement and don't care about what people say. Drink slower, drink less. Your health is worth more than getting wasted every weekend. Plus you'll have more money left to buy cool stuff!

You could just NOT drink!! failing that instead of drinking less.. just drink less alcohol!! Have a point then some water etc and another drink etc

Try eating a substantial meal before you go out drinking.

It will slow down your drinking and may also force you to take breaks or stop drinking as you become to full to drink anymore.

Try and avoid shots at all costs. They're easy to drink when you're already full of beer and obviously make you drunker quicker.

haha i defo dont have a problem anyways. i only go drinking once a week, max twice...
I suppose it all comes down to judgement.
But its hard to have any judgement when u are drunk :)

    Always?

How often do you go out? Sometimes i'll go a couple months without drinking. I go out and drink water sometimes. I can't stand the taste of beer so anytime i do drink it's shorts and shots.

I don't think you have a problem. Well if you do i probably have as you said you saw yourself in what i said.

    Anyway, just try cut back?

Sounds to me as if you are developing the old problem of :- One drink is too many, and a thousand is not enough; ! problem.

The fact that you only go out drinking once or twice a week is not an indication of whether you already have a drink problem. If when you do go out you lose control of the amount you drink. Then you have an alcohol problem, call it an allergy if thats more acceptable to you, and denial is also a warning sign.

Having "Black outs" is a serious matter. Perhaps a talk with a Doctor or an older family member might help.

I hope you get the right type of advice in relation to the damage alcohol abuse really has on all body parts, including the brain.

In Ireland we have a drink related social culture. This is not a help as many thousands have discovered.

start smoking dope, stick with it and you'll soon get sick of the drink.

That's actually what I'm doing at the moment :)

Why don't you grow up and slow down. If you can't do that then you are better off not drinking. You are obviously too weak willed.
