Theres usually a difference in what boards people will think they are worth, and what you will get for them.

So I'd advise, afer you get an estimate, you bump up the price:D

    worth nuthin tbh.
People seem to be under the impression that all vinyl is worth money.
None of the albums you've listed are rare after all.
They're really just a bunch of LP's you might find in your Mother's/Father's/Uncle's
    attic.
How much would you expect to get for the lot?

I was hoping close to €100. Shops in town might offer me a bit for them tho.

seen as achilles owns the vinyl, it sounds like they are that mother/father/uncle

Why always with the unfunny sarcasm from newbies eh? Always newbies... cus they're never here for long. Eventually they'll piss off an admin, then feck of.

sarcasm was not the intent of my comment. i was just pointing out that perhaps sleipnir might have pre-conceptions about people within this forum e.g all belonging to the younger generation.

by the way im here for the long haul.

No need to be bitter, friend. They're only making light of the situation. It's only a bit of fun.

I mean, how many copies of Thriller were sold? 20,000,000?

You might get more selling individually on Ebay or Buy & Sell, I can't see you getting much for these from a shop. The shop will only buy something that they can sell on and make money on.

very much doubt you'd get anywhere near the 100 mark.
I would consider myself extremely lucky to walk out of a shop with 20-30 euro after selling that lot.
Well, you won't know until you haul the whole bunch down to the exchange.

Without being mean, I don't think you will sell any of those records. I mean, you don't want them, why would anyone else? They are pretty middle of the road so you could maybe sell them in Chapters for €1 each or something. You won't get €100 for them or anything near it. Not a chance.

Ahh well i'll keep them so.

I wouldnt be too quick to listen to these experts, bring them to someone who'd know, you might have a rarity on your hands.... but you might have a record that another 3,000000000000000000 people have..... maybe...

Its like those Beck records with hand paintings on them, which he did himself, only a handful of them. Or a gold coloured/plated Bowie album which only 10 were released.....

I'll see what happens. I just have to figure out how to connect the vinyl player up to my pc so i can listen to the ghostbusters OST whilst playing need for speed or something, lol.

Can safely say that lot is worth f"ck all. It's the kind of stuff you'd find in a charity shop, so I doubt a record shop would even take them. Give them to oxfam.

It depends what editions you have. Get a recent record collector book, you can find them in libraries, and check the catalogue of the record. More than likely what u have isnt gonna amount to much. But none of the artists you've listed are really wanted by collectors so you'd probably only get €10 off a store in town, that's if they even take them.

i dunno bout da rest of them but that original thriller vynal will sell for quite a bit!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,258 ✭✭✭MrVestek

Err ok...not. I know for a fact that thriller wont sell for much, because its one of the biggest selling albums of all time, everyone has one.

I hate to burst your bubble further but Chapters currently have 3 box loads of vinyl they're getting rid of and each LP is 50c or €1 (depending on quality) - the dearest being The Cars ; Greatest Hits for €2 ...... the rest is similar stuff to yours ...

youd be lucky to get more than a euro or two for most of those... the mccartney interview and the david soul thingy might be little more valuable [the david soul thing is meant to be absolutely dreadful btw! ive never seen a copy but it still gets talked about] my mate has that hits 84 thing [with the ghostbusters theme tune on it is that the one?] and he got it for like 2 euro... my advice would be hang on to them, but ask around about the mccartney interview just to be sure... those things can be of more value to beatles completists than their rarity would justify so you might get more for it... be surprised if you got more than a tenner - fifteen bucks for it though...

*edit* thats iff theyre in reasonably good nick, no audible pops hisses etc... oh and if you want your record player to go through your computer you will need a dj mixer [****ty cheap one quite adequate for your purposes = second hand for €30 if you look hard enough] and an audio to jack lead which goes into your soundcard audio in port. i can recommend steinberg clean 4.0 for cleaning up vinyl rips etc, i use it to record sets and its very good indeed.
