I recently proposed to my Fiancée. I bought an engagement ring in H Samuel, and was told if it needed to be resized they would do it free, no problem. We needed it resized, and returned it. They didn't bother to tell us when it was ready, like they had said they would, so we were left waiting foolishly. Then the ring was still too large, and we had to return it again. At this point they spent a long time testing the diamonds in the ring in front of my Fiancée and me and the whole store, presumably because they decided we were swapping the rings or removing the diamonds from them. We both commented on the unpleasant implication there and then and were ignored. We were disgusted by this and emailed a complaint. Our complaint was dismissed. I proposed on February 10 and we still don't have the bloody engagement ring. After looking for ages to find a nice one I could afford, we get treated like we're thieves or something. We're really upset about this dreadful treatment. It's almost spoilt a really really special occasion.

That's lousy alright! Sorry to hear that!

Even if they did have their suspicions, they could have investigated it discreatly without embaressing you in front of the whole store!

Can't believe your complaint was dismissed with such ease! That's rediculous! I'd send another one, higher up complaining about the first instance and then the way your first complaint was treated! Talk about customer care!!!!

Hope you get it sorted soon!

PS - Congratulations! (I presume she said yes! lol)

    - sorry to hear about that, sounds ick. The problem with e-mail complaints is that they could be intercepted by the same staff you're complaining about in the 1st place - "here Jacinta de ye see what some bleedin wankor is sayin about yew?" and off it goes into the recycle bin.

If you don't wish to complain in person (which is perfectly understandable), your best option is written correspondance addressed directly to the store manager. If you want to be double sure it gets to them, then ring up the store and get the manager's name. Make sure to mention that you e-mailed a complaint and got no reply.

Strange to hear of shoddy customer treatment in Ireland

    Cheers
    Neil

So what's this post really about?

Are you upset about your future wife's fat fingers?

If the rings to big surely that would mean skinny fingers ;)

Congrats on proposing and do as others have said and follow the complain through.

British chain stores have a dreadful record for customer service.
Dixons/PC World/Currys are supposed to be the worst.
I've read some terrible stories about these guys..

    That's pretty horrible alright.

    Which store was it?

    And who did you email?

As Brocklanders said, write a letter. Email is just to easy to ignore.

I sent another complaint. Apparently my comments have been relayed to senior management, whatever that means. Won't get the ring until Saturday now, which will make it almost a month of this bullsh!t.

Well either way, they're getting some bad publicity by you posting this here.
