FFX-2 Mi'ihen High Road Question

I'm only about 5 hours into this game, and have just sauntered along the high road. Where are those points where you should be jumping up / down to those treasure chests? Also, lower down on the dead end road, there is a small path up to the right. I jumped up as far as i could, but there didn't seem to be anything up…
