Worst injury happened when I was crossing a road on my bicycle. 3 or 4 days later, I wake up from a coma. Amesia attacks for the next 2 or 3 weeks. Had a big patch of skin on my knee taken off. Had to get to get the bandage replaced every day for the next few weeks.
Luckily I was wearing a bicycle helmet. If not, the windscreen wiper would have marked my head, and not the helmet.

How did you lose 4 pints of blood? What happened exactly?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,513 ✭✭✭Sleipnir

at 16, you'd have had only about two pints left which means you' be dead!
Unless of course you had transfusions.

I fell out of a tree and landed smack-bang on the top of my head.
Had a constant headache for about 4 days (I still think my mum should have taken me to a doctor)

    :D

Went through a car door window once, as I was cycling home from school. Blacked out for about 2 seconds, and then found myself on the ground covered in broken glass. Everything seemed to be fine, until I tried to stand up and found:

    a) I couldn't stand up anyway, and
    b) I only seemed to have half a nose.

Bit nasty really. Had no helmet either - let that be a lesson to you kids.

(Congratulations to Lumpeh for his 4000th post, btw)

Actually the jury is still out on cycling helmets as they can aause some injuries that would not otherwise occur. That said, I wear a helmet.

Forcing motorists and their passengers to wear helmets when driving would be a more cost effective measure.

Fell onto a bale of curved galvanised roofsheets. split my knee open all the way across and saw it hanging on byut a few tendons/muscles whateevr the hell is in yer knee! Spent 4 months hobbling...

Also whilst having a "frank and heated" discussion with some local rapscallion I managed to "trip" and put my head through a plate glass window, only tore my tshirt however and had a bit of a headache/torn ear.

I have never had a serious accident. Well, some accidents that SHOULD have been serious, but im like indestructable or something. I have fallen out of trees from high, fallen out in front of cars, gone of the handle bars of bikes while not wearing a helmet... The lot, you name something stupid, I have probably done it, gotten injured but never seriously. I always just get off with a scrape or a bruise. By bones just dont break

sorry didnt give much details about my accident. i lost 4 pints of blood but most of it was in hospital. i was rushed there in an ambulance. and over the next few houres i bled a lot. so yea there was a lot of transfusion at the time and they were pumping it in to me.

Split my knee open when I fell off some bales of hay onto the spike of a bookrake when I was 8 and impaled my hand on glass when I was 16 - had to go under general anaesthetic for plastic surery to fix it up.

Put my hand through a Glasshouse when I was 7.
2 inch hole in my arm just below my wrist. The muscle/tendons (whatever it was was hanging out of the hole. Freaky. Looked like brains or something!

Hand still hurts in cold weather coz I damaged tendons nerves etc.

Busted my head open when playing footy.
    That is all

Last September I was involved in a crash, where the guy in frunt seams to have fallen asleep. He swirved and hit an other car and bounced back infront of me. I ended up slaming into the Fuel tank and then getting fliped over the front of the bike. My left arm was cought in the handel bars and ended up ankering me to the bike. So rather than go over the car I was "flung" like a catterpult arm onto the back of the car. The bike fell over to the left with my arm still cought in it.

I had torn the ligaments (spell) in my left arm, damaged my lower spine, fecked up both my knees and have lasting damage in them. Oh and then there was the groin damage as well... see linked picture from above for what caused it....

The Bike didn't come out the best as well

I sat on one of my balls by accident a few minutes ago.

I don't think it is a serious injury, but it was sore.
