    hi. :)

Just got eircom Broadband. I want to set up a wireless network so my mother, my xbox and my pc can all share the net. I went and got a wireless -B Broadband router and a WUSB11 wireless network adapter, shown here http://www.linksys.com/products/product.asp?prid=544&scid=35, from pcworld(Probabyl my first mistake). I could not get it to work so I phoned up eircom and asked about it,they said to me something about their modem being a router, and connecting a router to a router is very complicated. Im VERY un informed about this whole ADSL DSL Broadband thing. I have not got a clue.

Could someone clue me in as to how I would go about setting these mofos up? Its reckin my head :(

    TIA :)

Stick a PC with Wingate Firewall/Proxy btween the Eircom box and anything else. Make sure only TCP/IP and NOT Netbios is "bound" to the Network card connecting to the Broadband. A second Network card needed for the Wireless LAN access point.

P.S. Configuring a Proxy / Router is not something you will find much help with at Eircom.

    P.P.S.
"out of the box" no firewall / proxy (SW or HW appliance) has the correct settings. You need a lot of TCP/IP expertise

Take the Eircom Router and stick it ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

No just put it away in case you need to contact Eircom about a problem with your ADSL line.
They will only help with their router reinstalled.

So having disposed of their router, read the instructions for the wireless router about 3 times, before trying to install it!

What is the EXACT model no. of the Linksys Wireless Router?

What is the model no. of the wireless cards?

What operating system are you using? Win98, Win2000, XP etc.

Come back with these answers and we will see can we help you.
