I recently bought a new colour screen phone (with MMS, GPRS, etc) and put my 4 year old Speakeasy simcard into it. I manually loaded the settings for GPRS, etc but it has failed to work.

A friend of mine did the same, had the same problem and got O2 to send out a free replacement simcard. Is this common practice & could my simcard need replacing? Do O2 normally charge for this?

Did you ring O2 and get them to turn your sim card on for the services you want.
I had to ring them to get the gprs/mms activated on my sim card.
Ive also heard of people having to get new sim cards.
Its free if you go to an o2 shop and they`ll do it while you wait.

Exact same story here for a mate at christmas. They had to go into an o2 store to get a new sim. You would think that o2 would check if the sim is compatible before selling the phone.

as razer said, it may just be a matter of ringing customer services and telling them u need gprs / mms turned on, thats all i had to do with a 3 year old card on another network.
