Alright the universe is expanding at a roughly exponential but not constant rate and it's gettin slower and slower. If this is true (not sure bout that) then I think this is why.Computers run on a binary code? with digits 0 and 1 representing an "On/Off, Fire/Don't Fire, Yes/No, etc" equation. Now imagine you had more than just "Yes" and "No" like you had "Yes, No, If, When, Mabye" etc. If you had enough numbers you could create an entire language capable of complex processes. Now follow me on this one and assume that it is this interaction of numbers that forms the universe in the sense of matter and applied/potential energy. If you use this then everything we do and are and is around us is a function of a complex programming language.

    now to the expansion part:

My theory (that I came up with over a few days) is that the Big Bang being the input for the numbers then processed them.Started out with just 0 and 1, but in the processessing of these numbers, it got to 2, and then to 3, etc. each new number that it came across, a new chain of processes formed, working that number with and against all the other numbers in the system. These chains form like circles no not even lets say concentric spirals that expand the universe. The hairs on the balls of this theory comes in that a new system of processes is only created for a prime number, the other numbers are just functions of a lower prime number. Due to the occuring nature of a prime nature within the whole sequence it would explain the rate of increase. So ya vodka/caffine/suger/few days thinking/debugging of too much c++ bs=this

Is there a board for mental health issues?
    Try Tipp it
I think you need to get away from your computer...

The universe was actually programmed in Cobol.
It's a pretty well known fact.

Sounds like he took the idea behind quantum computing and made a drug or alcohol induced theory that does not even belong in Hitch hikers guide to the galaxy!!

I think its a good theory .. but if 2 was formed from 1 & 0 ... would it not make it like the way computers are nowdays? ... building layer by layer until you have a nice GUI interconnecting you to the world...

or do you mean that 2 mutated out of 0 & 1?

I personally think we are each our own little functions ... and when we die will have to return to the main body of code ... where everything will make sense and we will know the answer to the question 'why' ... while we are here we have to accept the fact that variables will be passed to us for a reason ... we don't know why .. but there is a greater purpose .... and we must return a value ... we must fulfill our purpose in life ....

    *I'm joking btw*

Fudge this binary crap... The universe is a big giant life form.. probably a big blob of goo! And we are nothing more than little tiny life forms going about our various tasks of reproduction etc. Just like what is going on in our own bodies. What is God some people ask? God is the universe and since we are part of it "WE ARE GOD!" and we worship ourselves.. those who deny the existance of God deny their own existance and so are not actually here and can be ignored.,..

I dont drink by the way :D:D

The universe was created on an Amiga 500.

What about the ending in Men In Black. The earth is just a marble in some alien's game. Nothing more.

You're not cleared for that, Rabies. Please look at the screen.....now

We'll never know the answer in our lifetime. Therefore, its not worth worrying about.

There's the whole "dark energy" theory aswell - latent energy left over from the diversification of Hydrogen atoms in the early days of the universe. There's also the idea that space-time is curved, and that the universe is a reflective dodecahedron giving us the appearance that the universe is far bigger, when it is in fact quite small. The speed-up is a function of us being on a different part of the curve to the rest of the local universe.

    Who knows. LSD anyone?

Exactly...we all live in the matrix

Well I still stand by my theory (that I though up whilst on the bog), is that our universe, is just part of an even bigger one.

Look at along these lines (I know theres loads of errors through-out this but bear with me..), the planets orbit the sun, so maybe galaxies orbit eachother? Or some centre nucleus or something. All in the same way that the electrons orbit the nucleus of an atom. So what if our universe is just a bunch of atoms (in a literal sense if you want) that make up a tiny tiny part of another material? Material in that whatever material our universe (atoms) is part of? Maybe our universe is just part of a window, or a shoe or whatnot in that place? In some other thing that's beyond our universe and all the others?

I dunno, I thought it sounded really philosphical anyway...
