I was installing SP1 on Windows Xp on a friends laptop as she needs it to get onto the wireless network, and during the installation it crashed[ran out of power :(]
    I was stupid and didn't archive :(

Now when I try to run it it unpacks and verifys time, but when it gets to the install it gives me an error message saying it is unable to verify update.ini

    Anyone know a solution?

try deleting said file and retrying the install.

If not, you may have to do a complete re-install if you can't roll back.

Do a recovery using your Xp cd.. then reinstall the service pack.
