i just saw the station agent last night at the dublin film festival and i cant recommend it enough. i loved it, it has some hilarious scenes and at the same time is extremely touching.
its about three people who are lonely and isolated in different ways from society(a dwarf, a grieving mother, and a street vendor stuck in the middle of nowhere) who find or are forced into friendship together.
the director, Tom McCarthy, turned up at the end for a Q+A, which was a nice surprise and it added to the whole experience.
i know its early in the year but this is already one of my favourite films this year.
go see it when its out properly!!

Couldn't agree more - saw it the week before last. Great screenplay, great performances and beautifully photographed. Reminded me of the kind of American indie movies that you used to see 10 years ago before the 'Tarantino Effect' kicked in - basically like reading a good American short story. Go and see it.

Saw this last night as well. It was very enjoyable alright, great acting and a great story which hit on a number of emotions but ultimately left you felling very satisfied afterwards.

It was great that they arranged for Tom McCarthy to come over and do a Q&A session, it's the first film I've seen in the festival so far but the whole things seems to be organised really well and it's great to see so many people going to see these quality independent movies.

So it's one to catch? Well I'm pretty sure UGC are showng it anyway, according to their site, so I'll wait the requisite weeks, like I'll do for Monster and a few others... Nice to know it's good, deserving of the praise heaped on it already.
