great news for fans of the show:
    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/tv_and_radio/3489657.stm

After the special BAFTA award night for Barker, the two ronnies approached a BBC exec. with interest to doing a new series, its been green lighted however as no material has been written yet it probably wont be aired until next year.

I love the old shows, and am looking forward to the new series (if its anywhere near as good as it used to be), i never really liked Corbett, but Barker is brilliant.
This is either going to be a tired re-hash or proof that great comedians never run out of material.

I fear the first will be the case.

I pray the latter will prove me wrong.

    terrible idea

I liked them back in the day (though I would have been about 10)
but that style of comedy just won't cut it now.

plus they are both fairly old now - it may look ridiculous.

Not nessecarily, I grew up watching these with me father every night, and still find programs like Porridge, Open All Hours and The 2 Ronnies funny to watch.

They prolly will **** it up, but that may be more to do with producers etc. trying to make them more appealing to todays youth or some other demographic than to do with their humour being out of date tbh.

I fear the worst. It was great as a 10 year old in 197something but looking at clips from the shows they seem so tired and obvious now. Esp true of the latter
series which had the terrible "battle of the sexes" serial.

I'd say bring back Morcombe and Wise first. :ninja:

Ronnie Barker is one of the greatest ever comic actors. I say Comic Actor as his talent lies in the delivery.

Ronnie Barker can make the worst material bring a smile to your face....Genius!

Oh yes and Ronnie Corbett is the small one who did Sorry....:dunno:
