A user can add an AIB (NSC 93-xx-xx) mandated account without agent assistance.
Accounts held at other banks (Such as BOI) may be mandated only by verbal instruction on $PHONE_NUMBER, login, then dial 88 for agent.

Yeah, phone the AIB (I think 88 is the right keypad code for the "speak to a representative" thingy-ma-lark).
Just give them the details, hang up, log on and it'll be there waiting for you :-)

    /edit Fair enough Lump

It's a bit of an annoyance to have to ring up anybody really isn't it.
suppose it another layer of security for the bank.
you get written conformation of the registration as well.

    Um, well I'm presuming it's AIB's http://www.24hour-online.ie/ website.
Heh, I've had plenty of bad news from that site manys a Monday morning...

But I have to admit, I was very impressed by the website service and by the bank itself. I'm from the north, and would occasionally lodge Northern (UK) cheques. I would jump the HUGE queue (40+ people) in the bank by going to the "foreign exchange" line (1 person max).
Hand over my cheque and cash card, type in my ATM pin code, and bob's your uncle. I could then go straight out a with draw the cash - no "5 to 7 days" for internation cheques to clear.
