Look around you and whatever makes you smile answers that question.

Allways remember at the end of the day you're maggot food. Life is what you make of it, nothing more. I find if you keep in mind the fact that at the end of the day your'e six feet under, it gives you a surprisingly cheerful outlook on life.

For some people all there life is about it is

    work hard in skool
    get the leaving
    go to collage
    get a good job
    geta wife/husband
    havekids
    dying

Thats not the life i have in mind i think life is what you make it and i have no intention of being just another mindless drone. Life is about enojying yourself and liveing by the moment after all anything could happen we could die at any moment at any time for any reason.

I wouldn't advocate enjoying yourself for all of your life, living life for the moment and all that, after all you still have to live after the moment. But I do think you should have some goals in life, goals that mean something to you, in my case I have goals that I believe will live long after I am dead. I advocate the belief in achieving something greater than yourself, something that will live on after you, some mark on people (positive obviously).

If you're a teenager, early 20's its all about enjoying yourself
If you're middle to late 20's it's all about you're job
If you're in your 30's it's all about you're family and getting a house ect
If you're in your 40's its about watching your kids grow up
If you're in your 50's it's all about saying goodbye to kids, and being thankful you still have each other
If you're in your 60's or above, its once more about enjoying yourself again(I hope!)ww)

PS: I am 20 years old and know nothing!

tbh you missed the in between bits...

work hard in skool - start drinking
get the leaving - learn about life - women/men+ drugs, sex and rock 'n' roll
go to college - pay student fees, get laid and get drunk
get a good job - still pay of student fees, buy a house and get drunk
geta wife/husband - still pay of student fees, pay off your house and get drunk
havekids - pay their fees, pay off your house, pay daughters wedding and get drunk
dying - have a drink with your granddad - you never met until you got to heaven

I see a few replies about having a family, and I wonder does having a family really matter. I have a family, and I wonder, seeing as I don't remember my great-grandfather, why should my great-grand-kids? If I am to be forgotten so easily, and if all you do is end up as maggot feed, it hardly seems worth it, does it? Which backs up my point of finding something you can go down in the history books for. Although I also wonder is it as good to be remembered fondly or not? After all, look at all the press the "evil" people of history get.

All i know is that in the next ten minutes, im going to eat a denny cheese and bacon pie. Then after that, probably some need for speed underground. I play it by year. Always have and always will. Lifes fun that way.

    omahaid,

1; You can choose your friends, but I am afraid you are stuck with your family.

2; You are not maggot feed. If you are cremated.

3; Who really wants to be remembered anyway. Except egotistical fartheads.

So, do whats really in your heart and spirit for as long as possible. Because life is too be lived and not pondered upon !.

Instructions for Life from the Dalai Lama:

    1. Take into account that great love and great achievements involve great risk.

    2. When you lose, don't lose the lesson.

    3. Follow the three Rs: Respect for self, respect for others and responsibility for all your actions.

    4. Remember that not getting what you want is sometimes a wonderful stroke of luck.

    5. Learn the rules so you know how to break them properly.

    6. Don't let a little dispute injure a great friendship.

    7. When you realise you've made a mistake, take immediate steps to correct it.

    8. Spend some time alone every day.

    9. Open your arms to change, but don't let go of your values.

    10. Remember that silence is sometimes the best answer.

    11. Live a good, honourable life. Then when you get older and think back, you'll be able to enjoy it a second time.

    12. A loving atmosphere in your home is the foundation for your life.

    13. In disagreements with loved ones, deal only with the current situation. Don't ring up the past.

    14. Share your knowledge. It's a way to achieve immortality.

    15. Be gentle with the earth.

    16. Once a year, go some place you've never been before.

    17. Remember that the best relationship is one in which your love for each other exceeds your need for each other.

    18. Judge your success by what you had to give up in order to get it.

    19. Approach love and cooking with reckless abandon.

And the meaning of life is...<edit by divine moderation>

It just is. You can find "reasons" to keep you going, in fact most people need that but ultimately, the universe is indifferent to what humans get up to. Just something to keep in mind if your problems seem overwhelming!
