What song would you choose to play for "the First Dance" at your wedding.

    You know the type

    Goo Goo Dolls - Iris
Van Morrison - Have I Told You Lately
    etc.

Hmmm, never thought about that, i do know that i want a live band playing "another one bites the dust" at my funeral though

Sue pollard had a hit in the 80s with a song called Starting together which was also the theme to a BBC documentary about getting hitched. Don't know if you could dance to it but it has the right sentiment for the big day. Curtis stigers all that matters to me is another possibility althought mostly they used to play a waltz for the bride and grooms first dance.

I know 1 guy who for the last 10+ years has said he will have the imperial march as his first song at his wedding - Hes been so obsesed with the idia i would say he will do it.

Personley i dont have no wedding plans. First thing that came into my head was "flower of carnage" and "bang bang" - both songs from Kill Bill volume1

I have actually thought about this, and if I ever get married the first song is going to be the theme from "The Godfather".

Drops of Jupiter by Train. I really love that song, the words are excellent, and the tune is really wedding dancy type music

I'm gonna have Amazed by Lonestar, it just sets the mood

    "Everytime our eyes meet
    This feeling inside me
Is almost more than I can take
    Baby when you touch me
I can feel how much you love me
And it just blows me away
I've never been this close to anyone or anything
    I can hear your thoughts
    I can see your dreams.

    Chorus:
I don't know how you do what you do
I'm so in love with you, it just keeps getting better
I wanna spend the rest of my life with you by my side
    Forever and ever
Every little thing that you do
    Baby I'm amazed by you

    The smell of your skin
    The taste of your kiss
The way you whisper in the dark
Your hair all around me, baby you surround me
You touch everyplace in my heart
Oh, it feels the first time everytime
I wanna spend the whole night in your eyes

    Repeat Chorus"

The 'first dance' song offers an unparalleled opportunity to make a complete tit of yourself.

I was at one last year and they had "Lady in Red" which was just the ultimate in cheeeeeeeeeze :D:D
I still cringe when I think about it.

The theme tune to Benny Hill I think.

It'd have to be Drowning Pool - Bodies

probably won't ever get married, but if i did it would have to be rise by josh rouse, a bit too uplifting for the last day of your free life but a damn good song

We had "How do I live" by LeAnn Rimes for our first dance. It was her choice and it was quite perfect for the moment.

We had considered "Happy to Be Stuck with You" by Huey Lewis and The News...

At my cousin's wedding last year the first song played for dancing was

    Goo Goo Dolls - Iris

Perhaps break from tradition on not have a "first dance"

Most of the songs played are either vomit inducing or just dull. Get straight to the party ;)

A not-too-distant cousin of mine, had Metallica's "Aint My Bitch" played at his wedding :) I think they're still married. As for myself, havent really thought about it, maybe The Velvet Underground's "I'm Sticking With You" or The Animal's "We Gotta Get Out Of This Place"

As for the soundtrack to a funeral. There was a thread relating to that a while back. (Well...kind of relating to it!)
/holds hands in the air. Guilty of dragging up old posts --->How do you wanna go?

Funny, I suggested that the other night to 'er indoors.
(no I'm not getting married any time soon)

Trisha Yearwood version though, it being better and all.

(and given that it's from Con Air, it'd remind me of explosions)

Y'know, it was the Trisha Yearwood version that we had played for our first dance. Now that you mention it and all like...

At my wedding we had this from phantom of the opera sang in the church. There wasnt a dry eye in the house...

    No more talk of darkness,
    forget these wide-eyed fears;
I'm here, nothing can harm you,
my words will warm and calm you.
    Let me be your freedom,
    let daylight dry your tears;
I'm here, with you, beside you,
to guard you and to guide you.

    Say you'll love me ev'ry waking moment;
turn my head with talk of summertime.
    Say you need me with you now and always;
promise me that all you say is true,
that's all I ask of you.

    Let me be your shelter,
    let me be your light;
you're safe, no one will find you,
your fears are far behind you.

    All I want is freedom,
    a world with no more night;
    and you, always beside me,
to hold me and to hide me.

    Then say you'll share with me one love, one lifetime;
let me lead you from your solitude.
Say you want me with you, here beside you,
anywhere you go, let me go too,
that's all I ask of you.

Say you'll share with me one love, one lifetime.

Say the word and I will follow you.
Share each day with me, each night, each morning.

    Say you love me ...
    You know I do.

    Together:
Love me, that's all I ask of you ...
Love me, that's all I ask of you.

Don't know about my wedding, but for my funeral I defo want "The Parting Glass" from the Waking Ned soundtrack. Can't remember who sings it, and can't be arsed checking.

I'd actually consider playing "Nothing Else Matters" at my wedding since someone mentioned it above. Cool song.

Ahhhh for a wedding song! This one is nice:

    FOREVER AND FOR ALWAYS
    Written by Twain/Lange
In your arms I can still feel the way you
want me when you hold me
I can still hear the words you whispered
    when you told me
I can stay right here forever in your arms
And there ain't no way --
    I'm lettin' you go now
And there ain't no way --
    and there ain't not how
    I'll never see that day....

    Chorus:
    'Cause I'm keeping you
    forever and for always
We will be together all of our day
    Wanna wake up every
morning to your sweet face -- always

Mmmm, baby In your heart--I can still hear
a beat for every time you kiss me
    And when we're apart,
I know how much you miss me
I can feel your love for me in your heart

And there ain't no way --
    I'm lettin' you go now
And there ain't no way --
    and there ain't no how
    I'll never see that day....

    Repeat Chorus

(I wanna wake up every morning)

In your eyes -- (I can still see
the look of the one) I can still see
the look of the one who really loves me
(I can still feel the way that you want)
The one who wouldn't put anything
else in the world above me
(I can still see love for me) I can
still see love for me in your eyes
    (I still see the love)

And there ain't no way --
    I'm lettin' you go now
And there ain't no way --
    and there ain't no how
    I'll never see that day....

    Repeat Chorus (2x)

I'm keeping you forever and for always
    I'm in your arms

    For my funeral.......Free Bird!

Me brother and sister-in-law had From This Moment by Shania Twain. 'Twasn't a song I knew before, but it was lovely.

That one from Phantom of the Opera, above, reads well. What's it called, anyone?

As for Amazed, that was one of the most cringeworthy songs to make it into the charts in the past few years!

Indeed she does. Wonder what's going on there, and if her husband, AC/DC producer Mutt Lange, gets upset that no-one uses You Shook Me All Night Long!:D

    and

"She told me to come, but I was already there"

    "Hurt" by Nine Inch Nails

    heh ...just kidding....

I really like the phantom one - I think it's called "All I ask of you"

I think for me it would have to Clapton's "Wonderful Tonight"

    All I Ask Of You.

Good song, despite it having been written by Andrew Lloyd Webber (having said that, Diane Warren wrote How do I live and she's the witch responsible for that Titanic song and quite a bit of drivel besides (cough, Chicago 21))

London Cast album has a far better version compared to the single version (you get to miss out on Cliff if you skip the single version:))
