you know the way gallegher's strat always had paint peeling off it, well is there any way you can bring your guitar into a store and they'd do it?

Why pay someone good money to do it for you? Apparently the guys in the Fender shop that made the replicas of the strat just got strats and attacked them with chains. I'll see if I can find a link.

I have a biography of him at home and it said that it has something to do with a high level of acidity in his blood. This is the amazon link to the biography tis a good read

I was watching the 74 tour on Christmas night and he was talking about the state of the strat. He said it was because of his harmonica braces banging against it, night after night and the wear and tear of being on the road. Apparently, it was one of if not the first strat in the country.

Laat time I was in Musicmaker in Dublin, there was one of the Fender paint stripped Rory guitars on display.

That's a replica of Rory's guitar made in Fenders Custom Shop. I think there were only 25 or so made. The price on that one is €10,000.

The new (2004) Fender Rory Gallagher Strats are cheaper, around €3000.

Just like anything that is worth doing. It'd be cool to do it.

Unless you go at the end "argh my strat!"

    Huh?

I mean if you mess it up so it looks terrible you're stuck with a dodgy loking strat

If you mess it up, you get out the can of spray paint and respray it then start again.

Seems that it only involves paintwork, and you're taking off the old paint ANYWAY, I don't see much of a problem, except time and money, which is what you need in the first place.
