    Optimization
Since this mod is a work in progress, some optimizations have been made to the models for performance. You might experience a slight slowdown due to the fact that we haven’t done a full optimization pass yet.

    Balancing
Currently the game feels balanced, but some things may destroy objects faster then they should, the game will continually balance out as the mod progresses. This goes for speed of vehicles, weapon damage and amount of ammo.

    Maps
Only maps that display a small DC logo in them have DC vehicles. This is only temporary until new maps are created. Some new DC maps do not support single player yet, coming soon.
If you find any bugs, please send them to bugs@desertcombat.com

I am trying to get a hold of as many mirrors as possible. Fileplanet have yet to put it up on their site, much to the annoyance of all their subscribers. Most of the main mirrors are still being uplaoded. 3Ddownlaods were one of the first to have it uploaded, they have somewhere around 600 people in the que at the moment. Last I looked it was a 2 and a half hour wait. Torrent seems to be the only one thats capable of downloading at the moment.

[update]Fileplanet got it up sometime just befre 3am. and since then have really had a hard time. I put myself into a queue on one of the servers and I am at 441 of 1509 people at the moment. Long wait for some people im guessing. The mirrors above are the best that are around at the moment so use them as you wish. Now if you excise me, it is 4am and I am going to get some sleep. I wouldnt mind a CD of the DesertCombat update if anyone can send me it :) [/update]

    Tis fixed now :)
Some wierd escape characters or something :)

ye Trinity feckers and your 100Mbit link....grumble

And is it not a 180MBit GigE link ye have to the NOC now?

Frink is still stuck on 10Mbit ethernet to the 80Mbit ATM pipe due to college policy, not even a chance of 100Mbit ethernet to the rest of the college ffs.

Well, the Linux and Windows servers have been released and I have added them to the list of mirrors. I think the list of mirrors there and also in posts above should be enough for all.

This release wasnt done the best I must say. Well, anything that keeps me up till 4am trying to find mirrors will annoy me. If anyone can send out CD's please say so. If I can get my hands on a copy I should have a couple of CDs to spare to send out.

And for anyone who has it ..... how is DC 0.7? :)

    Cya in a few hours.

Yeah i'd to change the name on my link aswell...
yeah it got upgraded but part of college that box is in only has a 100mbit link to the extern line...they won't give us a gigabit link....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,055 ✭✭✭suppafly

Well i'm d/l it now so i'll have a cd ready to be posted out to any needy 56ker's.

Just one question about this new one. Should i delete the DC folder completely cuz i clicked on the uninstall thing but i dunno if it uninstalled so should i just delet the folder altogether?

    Yeah, we're the same way.
100Mbit link to the pip would allow us to practically flood the pipe.
Don't see why they can't give us 100Mbit uplink to the rest of the college...might be remedied with an FDDI card or router with and FDDI module though :)
    Tap into that lovely fibre.
Would make my burning of linux isos a fair sight easier.

    10Mbit is just so sloooooow

Please explain. You dont need to have the console running to join games2. The console is accesible ingame by using the "`" key, found just below ESC.

If you want to make a quick shortcut to join games2 all you need to do is create a shortcut to Battlefield1942/DesertCombat on the desktop with the following command line:
    "C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 1942\BF1942.exe" +restart 1 +joinServer games2.iol.ie
    Change C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 1942 to your Battlefield directory

Or you can just use the All-Seeing Eye and find games2 and other servers on that.

And here's me thinking that Blueyonder had quit this service. There was rumours that a few members were setting there own "thing" up, and this must be it.

Winters; PM ur address, and I'll mail the CD to u. DL'in @ the mo. Winters only; he's the only monkey who's done a good bit of work here.

Thanks to Combatcow--Just got the updates this morning.
Question though---For the DC update do you have to uninstall the previous versions and then install the new one from scratch---obviously a new update to bring everyone into line like the 0.5 update???/
