This looks set to be a huge show for ratings, so I was wondering does anyone know, if it's being shown at the same time here as America, because RTE are a few weeks behind. Otherwise, we'll find out what happens and I don't want that to happen.

For the last number of years RTE have caught up with the states because of the long breaks that series have over there.

While over here we see an episode a week in the states the may sometimes only show 3 episodes per month, this year friends did not go out during the xmas period.

This usually means that while RTE will be one week behind the states at one stage, the end up taking a 3 week break because of distribution.

The same has happened with ER

Well let's look at how it is currently. We just saw episode 10x10 - "The One Where Chandler Get's Caught". Today, Thursday, the Yanks get episode 10x11 - "The One Where the Stripper Cries." That's right folks we're FOUR days behind. Given that the US takes breaks, be prepared for RTE to have to take the show off of air for a bit. As you can see though, they should be able to show it a few days on from the States. There's not a chance we'll see it before the Americans though.

If anyone wants it I have an email explaining everything that happens up to the end of the series, I won't post it here for fear of injury

yeah its class that we are so close to the states but unfortunatly we will loose out as they will definelty have to take a break. i doubt nbc will let the irish viewers see the last episode ahead of them.

kinda know what happens but dont wanna be sure!!!

Wooohooo, coming from a person who used to be a very very big fan of friends uptill Season 4 when they started reusing all the sames jokes and nothing new came into the show

All I can say is, its about bloody time
Oh how I have come to hate this show, I remember the good old days of Season 2 and crazy eddie..now they were good.

Or, you know, NOT. That was just a rumour. Not happening yet.

And yeah, Cabaal, I know exactly what you mean. My flatmate and I sit at the screen groaning at the lame reused jokes - oh look! There's another hilarious misunderstanding over a secret! How funny! - and then shake in collective wonder at the insane difference in quality between 'Scrubs' and 'Friends'.

Well I will - From the New York Herald:
    'Friends' - In Contempt?

The final episode of 'Friends' is set to go out with a bang - literally. According to inside sources, the grand finale of 'Friends' will see the death of one major character and it seems that, if you're a fan of nerd Ross Geller, you may want your tissues handy.
Says our informant, "Ross makes an important career breaking archaelogical discovery at a site during the last few episodes. However, it's on the site of a new building complex and when he tries to preserve it, he incurs the wrath of a local crime mob with fatal consequences." The incident in question is set to occur towards the very end of the finale, during which Ross, Joey, Pheobe, and Rachel reminesce as they help move Chandler, Monica, and their adopted baby into their new home.

Surprised? You shouldn't be. Sources in the know point to the new season of "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" season Fall 2004. The preliminary draft script for the fourth season's episode revolves around Vincent D'Onfrio's Detective Goran investigating the death of a local archaeologist.
"It's a ratings trick," explains TV's Chuck Kevins, "We bow out with 'Friends' on a cliffhanger. Fans will need resolution and - more importantly - Ross' killer brought to justice. So what will they do? They'll tune into "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" to find out, guaranteeing record audience ratings. Whilst CI has done fairly well for NBC, it has failed to match the ratings of other shows in the L & O franchise.

So: a cheap commerical trick or a clever marketing ploy that breathes a paradoxial life into one show based on the others dermise? You'll find out in May when the Friends finale airs.

I think the break is already happening? Digiguide don't have any new eps of Friends listed up until Feb 19th and Net2 seem to be showing only season 9 eps for the next two weeks or so. As Net2 are showing all of eps 9.2 - 9.8 in order between Feb 9th and Feb 19th it leads me to believe they might show all of Season 9 before they get back to showing season tens?

Ross dying is not what I heard would happen at all. Far from it, in fact.

I think someone told me that they had filmed about 3 different endings so no-one would know exactly what was happening- even the actors wouldnt' know which one they were going to use.

    MOD Edit: Spoilers added.

...around Vincent D'Onfrio's Detective Goran investigating the death of a local archaeologist

Isn't Ross a paleontologist (sp?)? And while I may not know a lot about the two careers, I think they're different things. Which would mean that something is wrong with that article.

Sounds like BS to me. Tying the 2 shows together would be ludicrous, even for one episode.

It has to end on a happy note (and hopefully a funny one).

    - Dave.

That's not what i heard either. I know what going to happen but i wont say and i dont think they done 3 different endings becuase they have already filmed a reunion special so the actors will of course know what happened at the ned in order to do the reunion special.

they did the ER tie in episode with george clooney and the other guy from the show, why not with this?

have to say ross gets on my tits, but he's been pretty funny recently. not as funny as seeing him shot in the face though. :D

ixoy just pretend you were joking, it'll be a lot easier that way.

think about it. gullible: someone who will believe anything they are told (at least enough to go and look it up in a dictionary, anyway).

    can we all say D'oh!

unless it really was a very subtle joke, in which case feel free to use this at a get out clause! ;)
