Can someone tell me if this picture is "photo-shopped"?
She's been haunting me for the last hour as I research stuff for my report on http://computer.howstuffworks.com .

Not sure if this will work, so used Image tag & attach file...

    britney.jpg

And no, this isnt an excuse for a Slydice special...

Thats the cover of her new CD. What does photo-shopped mean?

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 4,569 Mod ✭✭✭✭Ivan

It means was it edited using photograph type software to "enchance" her looks?

Her face looks WAY too symmetrical, too perfect.

Maybe its just me, but Christina who?

bound to be re-touched/airbrushed/photoshopped, whatever you want to call it. Everything is these days.

Makeup artist has probably fixed most of her ugly. Then the professional photographer will do all the neat lighting tricks to fix even more ugly, and then I suppose some airbrushing would be done if there was any ugly left over.

don't tell me you'd throw her out of the bed for eating crisps

I'll have to say it's been Photoshopped, on the grounds that I know very few ladies with a blueish tinge to their skin...

Good idea with the picture capt but if you look close they aint the same picture re edited. It does show the differences tho as I've used the programs that the photographers use in post before a pic like britneys and you'd be surprised the things they can do.
As for her being symmetrical, that's one of the reason most people find her so attractive. In pictures that are straight on like that it's very easy to do. It's a process call mirror imaging. Basically they take the pic and magic brush one side of the face and then resit it on the other by setting the centre of the face. The hole thing is then fixed up after that to make it seem unedited.
Britney doesnt need that though, I hate defending her but she is symmetrical enough as is but I dunno about "perfect".

There's a picture on the back of this month's Sky magazine of Roseanne Davidson (advertising Newbridge Silverware) and its photoshopped to the hilt. Her face looks like a dolls face, completely unnatural and obviously computer enhanced.

I wonder does she (or any other model) give permission for pictures to be altered in this way? Aside from all the crap in the paper about her, IMO I think she's a very pretty girl and in no way needs this type of photoshop enhancement...

id say that if they didnt give permission or had a problem with it they could have trouble finding work...

    rofl

she has a fairly alright face to begin with but it has to have been edited cause there aren't many faces anymore in magazines or on albumn covers who havent makeup and who havent had the **** airbrushed out of em

I think she's just used plenty of my "special face cream"....;)

Her face isn't even. Take a closer look. You're seeing her eyes level, but if you look further down you'll see that while her eyes are level, her chin is VERY slightly tilted to one side. If her chin were straight you'd see that her eyes were uneven.

Her ears look uneven as well from that pic, but it might just be a bad pic.

Photo-shopping is pretty common for any publication. Remember a couple of years back when Kate Winslet complained that GQ had stretched her legs for their cover.

A friend of mine does this stuff professionally for a well known Sunday newspaper and they went so far as to colourise a black and white photo from around 1900 to make it look better. The guy in the pic was dead before full-coolour photography took off.

I was bored one day recently and was flicking through one of my ma's women's magazines, and on the cover it had a picture of two soap stars. The same picture was reprinted inside with the article, and because I had just been reading something about airbrushing I had a look to compare them. There wasn't anything hugely different, but any little moles or tiny marks on their chest and necks were missing from the cover photo.

I do it on a semi-professional basis (I work freelance) , to answer your question, the photo is airbrushed slighly, but other smoothing and lighting tricks where used. Its quite easy to do, PH 7 is brilliant, makes my life so easier.

Cindy Crawford's 1st Vogue cover was edited- the mole was removed. It looked nothing like her. Photo editing is par for the course for de beautiful young nubiles of today.

TO be honest, I'd say lighting played a bigger part in that. You can make a big difference in the apperance of some one depending on the way you light them.

100 years ago i bet they had the same type of discussion only then they were saying 'do you think shes wearing makeup ?'
no one cares if a girl is wearing makeup to make her look better so i don't see the big deal bout editing pics with software, pretty much both the same deal, an illusion

Has anyone seen the "photos" in Playboy recently? WTF? The women look like robots. Weird blueish/blurry skin, really weird blurry white faces. They don't look human, and do absolutely nothing for me...

    It's just... wrong, bad, blah.

Give me natural, or erotic, or just-slightly-touched-up any day...

It's an Italian fast food type chain in America. They appear to have some sort of deal with her. In that recent video she did with Madonna, Sbarro stuff was placed in the start of it, as was a new Mazda RX8.

editing the photos of celebs is great and a huge loss to the celebs as they might look beautiful (near perfect) in edited pics and then up pops a photo with them with no make-up and looking like $hit.

there the pics to keep! :D
